“Great place to visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2014

Bergisel is definitely worth a visit and I would love to go there and watch some actual ski jumping. The architecture is stunning and the trip to the top is very good. The actual view from the top is stunning and you begin to get an idea how daunting it must be to do the ski jump. It was a bit windy but the kids enjoyed running around at the very top.

A friend told me that you can get a good deal on breakfast which gives you full access to the platform for a good price. Might try that next time

“Smoking Platform”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014

The view there is very nice like what the other reviewer wrote, but I found it very unpleasant on top of the viewing platform because of the other visitors.

I am not sure if there is a sign up there to prohibit people from smoking, but It was so full of smokers!!!!

I did not enjoy the view up there and spent only a very short minute up there because there were too many smokers. MOst of them started to smoke as soon as they arrived the top platform as if they were starving!

The life was nothing special.

There is no easy public transportation to go to its entrace. Easiest way is to take the Sightseer bus (Free if you have Innsbruck card) to the Tyrol Panorama bus stop and walked up-hill a bit to its entrace.

“There was more snow-------”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014

There was more snow when we were there than there was a few weeks later when the Four Hills ski jumping tournament was on.
If you are in Innsbruck then The Innsbruck Card is well worth having, as it covers transport and entry fee for a whole range of attractions. You can get to the Bergisel by public transport or by car. You can drop off passengers by the ticket office and park in the pay and display car park. After parking there is then a five to ten minute walk up to the ticket office which includes a flight of steps. Entry is 9.5 Euro for adults, with family tickets etc. also available. Once through the turnstile there is a shop, and the station for the funicular. From the funicular top station there is a lift up the tower to the top levels. You can if you wish walk up the 455 steps to the tower entrance level. The 360 degree views of the Inn valley and Innsbruck from the top are amazing, and you can also enjoy a meal, or just coffee and cake in the restaurant. The architect Zaha Hadid submitted a design for an opera house for my home city of Cardiff, which was never built, so it was interesting to see this design of hers "in the flesh" A bonus for us was to stand above the ski jumpers and watch as they practised, taking no notice of the fact that from the top, the view after the landing area is of a church graveyard. We would certainly recommend a visit to this attraction.
