Hotel Kapeller Innsbruck
Ranked #5 of 72 Hotels in Innsbruck
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 11, 2013

If you are looking for a place to completely unwind while traveling this part of Europe's major cities, Hotel Kapeller is just the ticket. When you arrive in Innsbruck, just purchase an inexpensive public transportation ticket for the number of days you are staying, get the Amras #3 tram to the end of the line, check in and enjoy the quiet and comfort.

Across one side of the street is a sweet and neat classic Austrian farmhouse with attached dairy that even has a 24-hour milk dispensing machine. Across another street is a perfectly charming Baroque church. And the view! The surrounding Tirolean Alps are staggeringly beautiful. The entire neighborhood is perfect for strolling about and it is a great starting point for the walk to Ambras Castle, something not to be missed. If you are hiking in the area and go beyond the castle, you will come across a poignant and quietly disturbing cemetery for Tirolean soldiers of World War I and II. There are several restaurants in the immediate vicinity and I highly recommend Bierwirt Tiroler Wirtshaus.

But I digress. The hotel is spotlessly clean and minimally decorated, cutting down on the distraction of the decor. Our room was spacious, well-outfitted and had an excellent bathroom. One thing that immediately came to mind was the clean, fresh air. It was the middle of winter and a time when hotel rooms can be stuffy. The bed was extremely comfortable and this coupled with the quiet made for a superb night's sleep.

The staff was warm and accommodating in every way.

For those who were less than satisfied with the breakfast, I beg to differ. I am an organic food gardener and quite discerning when it comes to ingredients. Those used in some of the dishes was so far superior to those that we encountered in other parts of the area. Eggs were like they came from our own pampered chickens, with rich thick yolks that were deep orange. Milk, yogurt and cheese was excellent.

If you must shop, a little walk takes you to a massive shopping center with every possible store that you would require. It is out of the way enough so as not to disturb the idyllic surroundings.

Of all of the places we stayed during our 3-week vacation in Germany, Austria and Slovakia, Hotel Kapeller stands out as one of the finest.

My wife and I stayed in the Kapeller Hotel during the Xmas season. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast was very good by continental standards. The hotel is situated in the more suburban part of Innsbruck, but is a 2 minute walk from the tram terminus (Ambras - 3).

The staff were very helpful, and I would certainly recommend this hotel to travelers.

We booked the hotel through a booking website two hours before just to make check-in easier. We did a search for two people and Hotel Kapeller came up and we booked the room that came through the search. We went to the hotel and checked in and went to the room however the bed was a single bed smaller than a twin and unable to sleep two. We went to the front desk and requested a larger bed and offered to pay for the upgrade but they said it was our fault and could not change the reservation. We requested to cancel the reservation that we paid in full and they would not refund the amount. We contacted the booking site which said only the hotel had the authority to refund and after an email exchange with the hotel and even offering to pay the booking fee, the owner got involved mentioning a lawsuit against us.

The location is just outside of the city with a twenty minute bus ride to old town for two euro.

We would not recommend this hotel based on the lack of customer service and poor business ethics.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Kapeller Hotel, The rooms are very clean and the staff is very helpful, when needed. It is located not too far from the City, and still in a town like atmosphere. Breakfast and its layout and variety was very good. Thumbs up, keep up the hard work.

If you visit from an area like USA , that prides itself for service, I recommend to save your dollars and find a reputable chain that you trust. The hotel itself is nice, but service is under standards on many levels.
The location is too far from the city, and it stinks like horse manure throughout the whole street.
Not my cup of tea, but lesson learned!
Hope this post will he others not to fall into the trap we did.
Austria is great, enjoy!!!

We stayed at this hotel recently and were very impressed by the whole visit. Firstly, the staff are very warm, friendly and very helpful. I was having trouble with the adaptor for my iPad and one of the staff actually brought her own adaptor from home the next day for me to use. That is service!
The room was excellent, very clean and well maintained. The only downside, and I think it is common throughout hotels, is the pillow. It was terrible! Everything else was good.

Room Tip: Don't opt for the cheapest room...most times it is the shoebox.

The Kapeller hotel in Innsbruck is a very nice place to stay if you want to visit the city. It is not very close to the center, but within a walkable distance, and you get to have free parking and a really calm environment.
We stayed one night, our room was very large, with a big bed and a sofa. The bathroom was also large. Everything was clean and the decoration was nice. The staff was really nice.
The breakfast is very good, there are many nice options and the breakfast room is also a very pleasant place.
The internet connection is ok.
