“Great place though needs some updating”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

Central Hotel was such an excellent hotel choice for Location, price, parking and comfort. So easy to walk anywhere in the city from the hotel and with views all round of the mountains due to innsbrucks location as a city it was lovely. Here in the summer it was very warm as there is no air conditioning in the hotel room but we left the windows open and by the early morning the room temperature was perfect. The room itself (we were three people in one room) was a great size especially as even though hotels say they fit three sometimes it is cramped but not here. The bed comfortable as I said only let down was the lack of A/C.

The staff everywhere else were lovely the lady at reception which appeared to be the manager on duty was not exactly thrilled to be there but I noticed over my stay that she was always here so I could empathise if you end up being the only one left to man the fort whilst everyone has gone on holiday and what not. She however was not rude just blunt and direct which there is no harm in at all.

I was on a driving holiday so in the morning my brothers and I walked to a local city 'Backerie' which served us fine and due the location gave us excellent opportunity to leave the city. I would definitely come back to this hotel if I was in Innsbruck again overnight.

Although the staff were helpful, the public spaces attractive and the parking convenient, the room was poorly-lit and extremely hot. No air-conditioning in a 4-star hotel seems very unreasonable, especially when in the summer no alternative to a duvet is provided. The bathroom was pleasant, but again dimly-lit, as were the corridors. Breakfast was good, with a wide selection of dishes.

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel.
After a dodgy start when given a less than appealing room, the staff were more than happy to move us. We had a great view and the room was spacious and warm.
The hotel is in a great location and I would definitely come back

While the rooms were clean this hotel is in need of some updating. They also do not have a/c. Did not find the staff to be very friendly on our visit. The food in their breakfast buffet was very good. and had a nice selection to choose from. The location of the hotel is near to ll of the local attractions.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel.

Check-in is somewhat cold and uninterested but efficient. Rooms are nice but in a sweltering 34 degrees centigrade heat I was shocked to find no airco in the rooms and no air through the smallish windows thus making it impossible to sleep. The hallways and public spaces are equally oppressively hot.

This hotel advertises with cable TV - yeah right, if you like 80+ channels in German that is. I find it incomprehensible that this hotel in such a touristic city doesn't even offer CNN or BBC. Internet is free, fast and login is a doddle. If you need to work at night though, get another hotel, there is no proper desk in the room except for a tiny square table to sit your laptop on. No coffee facilities in the room either which is a crying shame for a hotel of this stature. Shower water pressure is the bare minimum needed to get wet and clean, certainly not enough for an invigorating shower after a days work or travel.

Breakfast is the biggest let-down I've ever encountered. The hotel charges either a €12 breakfast fee or you can order from the menu...by the slice of bread, the egg and the glass of (non-fresh) juice. If you want something else than the awful coffee which has been boiling for hours, they make you pay for an espresso or latte. Biggest affront is the total chaos in both ordering and signing the cheque. I had no less than 3 people at my table trying to make me pay for someone else's coffee, for the full breakfast charges until they got the message I wanted it charged to the room. The breakfast itself is so-so, not unreasonable but nothing out of the ordinairy or spectacular.

To the hotel manager I can only advise to book a night around the corner at the Hotel Europa, 2 streets away at the Grauer Bar or Hilton or near the airport at the Penz-West to experience what a breakfast of a respectable hotel looks like.

No, this hotel certainly tries to look all-that but does not come through in any area. I will avoid in future.

The hotel was in a great spot in the heart of the city and has a grand foyer and looks very inviting. We stayed in a 2 storey family suite which had a balcony with views of the alps and was absolutely stunning. Sadly although the room was supposedly non-smoking, there was an awful stench of stale cigarette smoke in the room, and an ashtray was on the table suggesting the non-smoking rule is not being endorsed by hotel staff. However, on mentioning this whilst checking out, we were offered a discount on the bill. The walls are paper-thin and we were disturbed by all sorts of noises from adjoining rooms throughout the night.
The staff were polite and friendly, both in the reception and in the restaurant. There was no English translation on the menus which would have been helpful.

Really enjoyed my time at Hotel Central. The lobby and facility itself has a wonderful charm to it. My room was comfortable, clean, and perfectly located in the heart of the city. Breakfast was extensive with the usual meats in addition to fruit bowls, three types of eggs, sausage, bacon, and an assortment of breads. I didn´t have the opportunity or time to check out their spa-sauna area and cannot speak to it. Wifi was free, but limited to the lobby which was the only slight frustration - still better than hotels that charge for what I view as a basic service.

Staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and friendly.

I would definitely stay at the Central again and happily recommend it.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the street on the 3rd floor offer a great view of the alps on a clear day.
