We have been going to Austria for the past 20 years on various deals through Inghams and Thomsons and I can honestly say that this is the best one yet. This deal was through Inghams and we were a bit worried when the flights were changed to Tradeair going and Carpetair coming back, but both flights were great. With regards to the hotel we were upgraded (without asking and at no extra cost) to a Junior Suite and it was spotlessly clean with a separate sitting area with TV, sliding doors which partitioned off the bedroom, which also had a TV. The bedding was spotless and towels changed every day. We had a bath and a separate shower and a toilet in a separate room. The meals were lovely with six courses every night and a varied buffet breakfast. All staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We were in room 312 which faced the back and had a balcony and views of the mountains. During our time there we had three buffet nights and a gala dinner. For what we paid it was excellent value. We had been to Igls before and stayed at another hotel so we knew the area and how to get about. Thank you Sporthotel and Inghams for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Ask for room at back with view of the mountains.

The hotel is located in Igls - about 3 km before the Europa Brucke. The location is somewhat quiet with some traffic passing by, but nothing major.
The star is very helpful and friendly and we enjoyed our stay there, even though it was only one night.
The room we had (128) had a small balcony with two chairs and with partial mountain view.
Breakfast was plenty and with a lot of different options including eggs made to order.
The evening buffet was also plentiful and with many options to choose from.
I can really recommend this hotel in connection with a stopover to/from Italy as the location and the scenery combined with the friendly staff really make it worth a while.

This is a great hotel to stay. All the staff so attentive and very friendly. Our room 221 was spacious and comfortable. A kettle was requested & provided, tea bags & milk to be taken to the room were available at breakfast The fridge in the room was useful to keep the fresh milk in. The bath was very slippery when wet so we requested a shower mat if they had one and one appeared in the room within 15 minutes. We felt this was typical of how the staff go the extra mile to please.
The location is perfect- 15 mins bus ride into Innsbruck, 5 mins walk to cable car and numerous local walks/hikes around lakes, golf courses in beautiful countryside directly from the hotel. An evening organ recital in the local church, 2 mins away was a very pleasant event. The local tourist office put on musical evenings depending upon the weather.
Can strongly recommend staying at this hotel.

We stayed here on an “Inghams’ Deal”, which was exceptional value.

Our room (125) was quite spacious with lots of storage space and, as there were only two of us, the area with the sofa bed made a good place to sit and relax. OK, the view from the window wasn’t great – just out onto the road that carried some heavy traffic (& noise) during the day, but that wasn’t a problem at night. Perhaps the rooms could have been more sound-proof, but this is a family hotel and so some noise is to be expected.

Our first set of bed linen had seen better days, but that was changed after a couple of days. The bathroom had ample toiletries, towels and hot water.

The pool is a good size and we made use of the sun-loungers in the garden upon returning from our daily walk or trip into Innsbruck.

Where the hotel excelled was in the restaurant – both in terms of its food and its staff. Breakfasts were hearty and satisfying, with a good variety on the buffet of hot and cold dishes. Evening meals, whether a buffet or tabled-served, were of a very high quality with lots of choice. All meals were served/attended by very efficient and good-humoured staff.

We did, however, miss coffee/tea making facilities in our room.

The hotel is about 5 minutes’ walk from the Patscherkofel cable car and is also well served by ‘buses. However, you could access many walking trails from the village itself or make use of the free walking tours provided by the local tourist office, which provides free ‘bus transport where it’s required.

We would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

I stayed at the Sporthotel for one week with a friend to make the most of the walking on offer. The hotel is run very smoothly indeed, always plenty of staff around to assist (the girls wear traditional costume). Our room was up three flights of stairs, no 236, and met our expectations for this hotel. A twin room, with a small sofa, a tv, (which we didn't actually switch on as so much to do), a balcony overlooking the little church and mountain views. A small but good bathroom, plenty of wardrobe space. No tea making facilities, however, you can ask for a kettle in your room and there is tea and milk available in the restaurant. There is a lift by the way!
Breakfast was quite extensive, dinner, five courses, always plenty of food depending on your taste.
Nothing happening in the evenings, there is a bar, but no entertainment and the lounge is not that welcoming. But after a days walking I guess you don't need much.
There is an indoor pool with doors that open out to a garden, and sauna and jacuzzi but we didn't have time to use the facilities.
The tourist office is seconds away from the hotel so is the bus stop and a short walk to a ski lift. There is plenty to do in the area. It is only a short bus ride into Innsbruck and beautiful walks from the hotel.
This hotel is in an ideal location for walking and sightseeing.
The tourist office is full of information which we made great use of, they also put on entertainment twice a week, weather depending.
There are also music recitals in the local churches.
I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel. It is a little dated in places but it's a typical Austrian hotel with character and friendly, helpful staff.
