Despite the rather shabby and unloved reception area, this hotel is a great place to stay. Rooms are spacious (for Europe) and clean, with comfortable beds and sparkling bathrooms. The rooms are also very quiet - at least partly because of the massive thickness of the door!
Breakfast buffet is tasty and extensive, with some excellent Austrian specialities - try the liptauer (cream cheese, capers, pickles and herbs) spread on your rye bread. Other more conventional Austrian delicacies include excellent fresh pastries.
We stayed in a room at the back of the hotel, looking out on to an internal air well - probably quieter than getting a room with a view on the busy road at the front - and since we were on the 5th floor, we still had good light and air.More
