Description: As is typical of a Tyrolean inn, the chef here serves only the very best from Tyrol and the rest of Austria. Variety and regional products are a priority for us. The ingredients largely come from the surrounding area - whether Tyrolean dumplings or Viennese schnitzel. This ensures that the quality of the vegetables, meat and fish is of the appropriate standard. The restaurant serves whatever is in season. This means fresh fish and asparagus in spring with wild garlic and other spring vegetables. Summer is all about light cuisine. Summer salads and fresh fruit can be found on the menu. When autumn sets in outside and the leaves start to change colour, the menu features wild game dishes and pumpkin. And in winter, a hearty roast is a must. The restaurant in Innsbruck also offers a cosy ambience. Whether in the Tyrolean Zirbenstube (stone pine lounge), the new lounge with its glass roof or the Bierstube lounge - there is something for everyone here.

“Lovely meal”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

The restaurant in our hotel was closed, which proved to be a big bonus.
The restaurant at the Bierwirt is comprised of various rooms, which added to the interest and all of which looked comfortable.
Very extensive menu but if you like roast duck, this is the place to have it. Beautifully prepared and an enormous portion.

“Exquisite food”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

This inn is located only a short stroll from the Hotel Kapeller and is one of those that just oozes Austria from every corner of every room. The quality of the meals offered leaves most 5 star restaurants in Australia so far behind that they don't even see the dust. Further there is no need to cripple your bank account or credit card as the prices as very reasonable, well at leats to us after experiencing the high cost of eating out in Australia

“Deliciously prepared Austrian cuisine in a comfortable setting”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

During our stay in the Amras district of Innsbruck, we had the opportunity to try Bierwirt. The setting is inviting, comfortable, and the staff warm and helpful. I am a good cook, and appreciate when dishes are prepared with excellent ingredients and clean technique. In our recent travels through Germany, Austria and Slovakia, this was the only place where I can say that the duck was prepared to perfection. Much of this can be attributed to a large, fresh duck, not the scrawny and stringy ducks that we encountered at other locations. Tiroler Grostl is a pretty simple dish to prepare, a hash of potatoes, mixed meats, onions and seasonings, topped with a sunny-side up egg. Bierwirt's was exceptional, again because of good ingredients. The egg has the darkest and richest yolk of anywhere in our travels, it was perfectly cooked, and creamy. The entire dish was seasoned subtly but not with timidity.

Certainly the prices are a bit higher than some similar locations, but it is clear from the quality of the ingredients, the large portions (I had an entire half duck), and the excellent service, that it was worth the difference. Their house beer, albeit high priced, was clean, crisp and refreshing.

“Prost! Now this food is great!”
Reviewed August 17, 2012

Very traditional hearty Austrian food. Service is good, but not overly personable. I'd definitely recommend the food, whatever you order. Plenty of locals eat there too, which tells me ... this place has a good kitchen!
