This was the worst overall stay on my so far 6 weeks of travel in Europe. Reminiscent of a 1970s-1980s Australian hotel/motel there was absolutely no value in the $178 AUD I paid to stay here for 1 night for the me and my two children. While the breakfast was ok (apart from the dreadful coffee) the rest of the factors negated any value in staying here.
The room was drab with a bizarre bathroom which reminded me of a hospital bathroom. A sort of all in one pod. The room was stuffy but the street was loud with crass drunks from the casino. Despite the lack of ventilation within the room there was the sound of a wind tunnel, all night within the room from one of the walls. The place advertises English TV channels only CNN news was available in English which was a real treat for two teenage kids who wanted to chill out after a very long day of travel. We couldn't even turning English subtitles so that they could watch something that was slightly entertaining and the receptionist had no idea when we asked for her assistance there.
The wifi was terrible - for the price it should be freely available in the room. Rather you get two hours free per day but it is of such bad quality that you spend all that time rather quickly which is a rort aimed at encouraging you to rent a 'wireless box' in your room. When I enquired about the poor reception the person on reception said it must be the page I was accessing. However it happened on multiple standard web pages.
As for cleanliness, superficially everything seemed ok but my eldest son and I sneezed all night while staying here which cleared up after we arrived in Vienna the next day!
In relation to broader information the reception couldn't even advise me where a laundromat may be located.
As we discovered there is no need to stay in Innsbruck ( you can see all that is necessary to see I. 1/2 day) and places such as these will cause summer tourists to bypass the town and skiers to arrive earlier with direct connections to ski lodges. As I said the most disappointing stay I've had in Europe so far. Hoping it wasn't be topped in the next 6 weeks.
