“Ridiculously overpriced - the cost surely warrants a post 80s facelift”
Reviewed May 24, 2014

This was the worst overall stay on my so far 6 weeks of travel in Europe. Reminiscent of a 1970s-1980s Australian hotel/motel there was absolutely no value in the $178 AUD I paid to stay here for 1 night for the me and my two children. While the breakfast was ok (apart from the dreadful coffee) the rest of the factors negated any value in staying here.

The room was drab with a bizarre bathroom which reminded me of a hospital bathroom. A sort of all in one pod. The room was stuffy but the street was loud with crass drunks from the casino. Despite the lack of ventilation within the room there was the sound of a wind tunnel, all night within the room from one of the walls. The place advertises English TV channels only CNN news was available in English which was a real treat for two teenage kids who wanted to chill out after a very long day of travel. We couldn't even turning English subtitles so that they could watch something that was slightly entertaining and the receptionist had no idea when we asked for her assistance there.

The wifi was terrible - for the price it should be freely available in the room. Rather you get two hours free per day but it is of such bad quality that you spend all that time rather quickly which is a rort aimed at encouraging you to rent a 'wireless box' in your room. When I enquired about the poor reception the person on reception said it must be the page I was accessing. However it happened on multiple standard web pages.

As for cleanliness, superficially everything seemed ok but my eldest son and I sneezed all night while staying here which cleared up after we arrived in Vienna the next day!

In relation to broader information the reception couldn't even advise me where a laundromat may be located.
As we discovered there is no need to stay in Innsbruck ( you can see all that is necessary to see I. 1/2 day) and places such as these will cause summer tourists to bypass the town and skiers to arrive earlier with direct connections to ski lodges. As I said the most disappointing stay I've had in Europe so far. Hoping it wasn't be topped in the next 6 weeks.

Room Tip: I give poor on location as it is unnecessary to stay in Innsbruck at all. Keep travelling to Munich...

We stayed at the Hotel for just one night before heading off to St Anton for a weeks skiing. We picked the hotel for its ease of walking from the railway station as well as value for money.
The hotel did not disappoint with the room for the 3 of us a very good size and very comfortable.
The staff were also very friendly and helpful. The free 1 hour WIFI was an added bonus.

The hotel is 200-300m from the pedestrian area of the historical center of the town. It's clean, comfortable and the staff is helpful. It is situated in a busy street but the insulation is good. It's not luxury--just enough to spend the night. Nice breakfast! Free wi-fi for 1 hour, you get 24 hours for 3 euro but only on the lobby.

We stayed in this hotel for a short ski holiday in the beautiful ski areas around Innsbruck. The hotel is very comfortable and centrally located close to the ski bus stop. With this ski bus you are able to visit one of the nice ski areas of Axams, Mutteralm, Patscherkofel or Nordkettenbahn.
The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are standard but clean and comfortable. The hotel is very close to the shopping area in the centre of Innsbruck and also restaurants are nearby. We will come back to Hotel Goldene Krone another time

Very nice location in an old historical building. Just in front of the Arc de Triumph. Closer to everything. Good breakfast, clean but small rooms. (not all but some of the rooms) . 24hrs helpful english speaking reception.

Room Tip: All rooms have Windows. But insist on getting a bigger room.

We stayed here for a Friday night before catching the train up to Ischgl on the Saturday.
It's great for the railway station and the city centre bars restaurants. The rooms are basic but comfortable. Also great value. Staff really helpful.
The breakfast was excellent.

We booked rooms here for the night before our flight back from Innsbruck. It may not be the most sophisticated in the world but for the central location and inclusive buffet breakfast, it’s certainly good value for money. Our room was clean and functional and the beds were really comfy. The reception arranged a taxi to the Airport which collected us outside and it cost less than 15 euros on the meter. We had a long flight delay and were very grateful for having had that breakfast.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are quieter
