Pros: Excellent value for money and large spacious double room (top floor: room 41). Very clean and tasty bakery downstairs for breakfast. 1 minute walk away from the Old Town area. Andy at the front desk was very friendly, professional and helpful. Fan provided which was really useful (even in winter). Comfortable beds and plenty of hanging/storage space. Safe provided also and handy maps free of charge at reception (as well as other useful information). Small table and chairs in room provided another area to sit.

Cons: Pillows left a lot to be desired (almost totally flat) and the doona was too short. Bed itself was comfortable. The window shade was translucent allowing a large amount of light from the street in making it difficult to sleep (should be block-out). The free wifi was a great inclusion though we found that we had to constantly log in and out (even within the 24 hour period) which was annoying. We had a little difficulty with some incorrect information from reception staff re the correct location of our ski bus stop but this was resolved - thank you!

We would certainly stay again! Lovely place and a little gem in Innsbruck!

We always try to stay in the old town centers, but having decided to go to Europe for our December holiday at the last minute, we were not able to find accommodation in Innsbruck's old center. The location of this hotel, however, was perfect. It is right outside the entrance to the old town and some of the rooms are facing the beautiful riverside.

The room and bathroom was gorgeous - modern, spacious, clean and funky - we loved it! The free wifi worked perfectly and the reception staff was friendly and helpful. Our stay did not include breakfast and we thought that the rate was a bit steep compared to other hotels we stayed in during our trip.

We stayed at The Basic Hotel for 3 nights in December - just before Christmas. The rooms are a great size - my husband and I had a room facing the Street. My only complaint would be the noise from the lift. Our kids had a room at the back with a deck and spectacular views of the alps. We had a three day skiing pass and the ski bus picked is up 200m from the hotel. Being first on the bus did mean we had a longer trip, but we were the first dropped off in the afternoon. There is a laundromat 5 mins from the hotel and the old town and Christmas markets were only 200m away. We loved insbruck - great atmosphere and restaurants and we would recommend the Basic Hotel ad a place to stay.

This was easily one of the most affordable hotels in Innsbruck over the period of our break, which was the middle of December. We were initially put off by the name and how affordable it was, then read some of the reviews and rightly decided to book!

Firstly, the location is spot on. 20 minute bus ride from the airport, and just two or three minute walk into the centre where all the attractions are. The views are extrodinary - we were at the back of the hotel, so our window overlooked the back of a supermarket, but towering above that were the beautiful alps - you can't lose!

We were greeted by a helpful and friendly member of staff who gave us all the information we needed, including pointing out the Wi-Fi log-in sheets which give you a password and 24-hour access to the internet. You can take as many of these sheets as you will use though!

Our room was way beyond basic! It was large, stylish and clean. No frills though - apart from the large flatscreen TV on the wall - which might be the only reason for the 'Basic' name! The decor was lovely though, really stylish and simple. I loved the bathroom, it was plenty big enough and had a large walk-in shower, which I really want to get at home! The bathroom walls were lovely frosted glass with an alpine image, which really did feel very luxurious. Considering how cold it was outside, the room was the perfect temperature throughout and very quiet. We very rarely heard other guests, and from what we saw they were small groups of people our sort of age, there for a ski-ing trip I imagine.

Only once we were disturbed by some noise outside in the supermarket car park (a delivery in the early hours) but it was very minimal and it certainly took nothing away from the rest of the stay.

Breakfast isn't included, which is probably what accounts for the price, but the hotel is joined on to a very nice bakery where you can get the usual Austrian delights, but you're so close to town you may as well have a nice stroll and explore some of the many cafes and bakeries the city has to offer!

We really couldn't recommend this hotel enough, it's great in its own right but on the value for money alone it's fantastic. Don't be fooled by the name - a stylish and comfortable stay awaits you.

Room Tip: Perhaps rooms at the front of the hotel might have a slightly better view, but it's on a main ro...

The hotel is in an awesome location, just outside of the Altstadt with parking available either at the back of the hotel or at a garage about 10m away. A bakery/cafe is connected to the hotel and a supermarket is just across the street. Talk about convenient! Plus the room is v spacious (we got room 41),clean,new looking and has all the stuff u need (in room safe, desk, hair dryer)! Loved it!

We stayed there, unfortunately only for 3 nights, last July. The room was very big and clean and it was facing the river. I asked for a room with a view and I got it ! The location of the hotel was very good, close to the centre and the Golden Roof and not far from the train station. The hotel staff were friendly and polite and also helpful. There was no breakfast but there was a number of bakeries and coffee places nearby where we had some delicious pastries and drinks. In general, we were very happy with our choice to stay at this hotel, we would definitely recommend it.

Basic? Not at all. I stayed in a single room (25, which you can see as a map in the photo section) during a conference. The location is between the river and the old town centre. You can easily walk from the station in 15 minutes.
The lady at reception gave me a friendly welcome and all the other staff at recption were always smiling and welcoming.
The room was compact but very lovely and modern. A huge unexpected addition was a covered balcony room from which you could enjoy the incredible views of the mountains. The same view was awarded when you woke up in the morning or working at the desk. Amazing. th eroom was on the second floor overlooking the parking area behind the hotel and also the rear entrance to the market hall. This meant that there was quite a bit of noise early in the morning when the market had a delivery van arriving and the hotel was shipping out its dirty washing trollies. However, this disturbance only lasted for 30 minutes or so.
The one thing that could do with improvement is the sound insulation of the room doors. Whenever someone was talking in the corridor, it sounded as if they were in the room.
Breakfast could be had in the lovely bakery within the same building. A fantastic selection of bread and coffees. Definitely worth taking your time to sit and read the newspaper and watch the other customers.
Another huge bonus was the free wifi in the rooms.
I would definitely stay here again, when in Innsbruck and recommend it to my friends.

Room Tip: A room on the higher floors might have less noise disturbance from outside.
