“Lovely stay”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

Its a lovely place. The owner and his wife are really friendly and super helpful. The rooms are lovely and the view is amazing. Breakfast is good. The location isn't the best but the views of the mountains are amazing. So it depends on what you're after.

Would definitely recommend.

I stayed here years ago and never thought about writing a review until I began planning another trip to Salzburg. This is an absolutely fantastic choice if you're looking for charm, affordability, comfort or romance. Breakfast is great, the view is TO DIE FOR, transportation is easy and the owners are so friendly and helpful you really cant ask for more. From the looks of the reviews, it seems as though not much has changed over the years. I visited with friends on a 2 month tour through the region right out of college and it was the only place that we stayed that I could remember by name. Looking forward to returning again in 2013...Only this time I'll be bringing my husband and two children. Cant wait to stay again and share the experience with them.

Salzburg is an enchanting place to be during the Christmas Holiday. Haus am Moos is about 15-20 minute bus ride from the center of things so plan on getting the Salzburg card to get anywhere. Nice for the peace and quiet of the beautiful countryside. The breakfast was fresh and delicious but little variety. Know beforehand what things are in the area, where you want to go and do, Innkeppers tried to be helpful but we found we couldn't find them if we needed something or the door to the dining area locked. Being that this holiday is taken very seriously in the area and there may have been a slight language barrier with the hostess, perhaps that is why. However, the Innkeepers seem genuine and ultimately kind hearted. This would be a be a very cozy place to visit another time of year.

This place required public transit to get from the city to the hotel but it was very easy to figure out. The public transit in Salzburg (and Germany/Austria in general) was great. The owners were really nice and the rooms were very homey. I felt like I was staying at an old german person's house. But not so old like a grandmother with knick knacks and cat statues everywhere. Just the right amount of age so that the place has nice art on the walls and you know it will be clean and taken care of.

We are a family of 4: 2 adults and 2 kids,i'd choosen this b@b based on TripAdvisor reviews as i always do,and i was not wrong,it was our second stay at the Haus am Moos, but i never had time to write a review for our first visit, when we stayed in the romantic suite which is great, especially when you have kids like we do: you have 2 rooms just for your self.-very well decorated,on the third floor with a gorgeous view over the mountains.
We just came back after staying there for 4 nights for Christmas.
It's a cosy ,quiet and clean b@b with nicely decorated rooms ,unfortunately the romantic suite was not available, but nevertheless we had another great room with a big balcony, not very used for this time of year but great in the summer time. The breakfast is very good wit lots of choices and is served in a beautiful room from 7.30 until 10 o'clock. The b@b is not so far from the city center and with the bus nb.21 you arrive there in a few minutes. We bought the Salzburg cards and it was a great deal as we used them also for the transportation.
The owners of this guesthouse are very friendly and welcoming!
Thank you Mr.and Mrs,Strasser for a great stay!!!!!

We (2 couples in their 50s) just stayed with Walter and Gudrun December 12-14 for a second time and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a suite on the third floor with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a small sitting room. The hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful. The place is super quiet and spotless. Breakfast is a big spread of bread, buns, meat, cheese, jams, cereals, jogurt etc. in a beautiful room. Walter always apologizes that it isn't a big, full-service hotel (no elevator, fitness room etc.) but the intimate guesthouse is our preference. Parking is free, bus to downtown easy and the scenery breathtaking (snow up to our knees last week). The free Wifi has been replaced and works perfectly. We hope to stay here again soon. While here we visited the fortress for a dinner/concert and Hangar 7 the free Red Bull Museum of sports vehicles and both were fantastic; on a past trip we did Sound of Music tour and Marionette Theatre and again they were fantastic.

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet and nicely furnished.

We stayed here in the first week of December. I'd chosen this place way back in August, based on reviews here on Tripadvisor. Our party of 3, me and my parents, were spending a few weeks travelling around Austria and Salzburg was our last stop. We wanted a place that was affordable, had good links into the city, was clean, well maintained and offered pretty "Austria-type" scenery. We weren't disappointed!

As many have mentioned, Herr Strasser and his wife are incredibly friendly. We stayed on the second floor of the main house and it was very comfy and unbelievably spacious. Just 1 bus (€2.30) takes you right to the city center (Mirabellplatz) and it runs every 15 minutes.

The breakfast is delicious and notably fresh. Certainly the freshest we at of the 4 places we stayed in different parts of the country.

And the view of the snow-topped mountains, valleys, trees that you get, particularly from the dining room in the morning is just...magic.
