nice rooms, cozy bed , clean sheets and good showers. breakfast available at reasonable price. they also provide a good tourist map of salzburg with clear directions to all the tourist spots. one can also rent a bike. Place is located close to the station. they promised wifi but the signal was very bad. i went in off season so no arrangement for lunch or dinner was there. salzburg card available at reception desk.

The girls on the desk when we arrived were very rude. Kept talking to each other and ignored the fact we were waiting for help. They were also rather snappy. A man who worked there seemed to think he was helping us but came across to be very rude and arrogant.

The room and lockers were fine. The shower room was on a different floor which was rather incontinent, but the showers were very good. Only 3 toilet cubicles per floor, which had had a lot of people on.

Our key cards stopped working after a day, which meant another trip to the grumpy receptionists!

Laundry was very cheap! 4 euros for a wash and dry including detergent.

Convenient location - very close to centre and station.

The staff was the only thing letting the hostel down.

Firstly great location, 10 min walk from the station one way and 10 min walk the other way to mirabell platz. Friendly staff at reception and bar. Reasonably priced dinner meals available - not a lot of variety if you're staying for more than a few days. Awful communal 'kitchen' - don't even bother with it. Sound of music played at 7pm each evening.

We were in room 210 which I would not recommend at all. It was a 6 bed dorm but definitely more suitable for a 4 bed dorm. There was about 2.5 foot of space in the middle of the room (beds against walls). So basically no space to move. Lockers that lock with room key card in room - good size will fit back pack in. Sink in room as well. Bunk bed ladders were hardly attached at all - bit dangerous. Had a peek in some other rooms when the door was open and all other rooms I saw were so much bigger so think we were just unlucky. Good showers and enough of them, could do with a few more toilets. Overall very clean.

No locker room really - you can leave your bag in the basement but this is essentially a hall way which is not secure at all. Can use lockers in hallway but these charge you one euro each time you want to open them.

Overall would recommend but hope you get a decent room and not 210 or similar!!

On another note would recommend the Salzburg card which you can purchase at hostel reception. Costs around 26 euros each but includes public transport and cable car which costs 21 euros alone.

This is definitely one of the better hostels I have stayed in. It was very clean and the staff was nice and helpful.
I only stayed one night, but I felt very safe. I really liked that each room had lockers so that you can keep your valuables stowed away. Also, for 1 euro, you can leave your belongings in a locker after you check out so you can walk around town without your stuff even after you check out.

This hostel has atmosphere but can be rowdy. Beds are comfortable and rooms clean with good security. Happy hour at 6-7pm great but not so great at 10-11pm as hostel fills up with revellers until the early hours. Fag smoke from the bar pervades all areas so ask for a room on at least the 2nd floor to escape the noise and smell. Toilets are limited but OK and showers good.
No kitchen so to speak of as it consists of a small room in the basement with a microwave but staff friendly and provide cutlery and plates on request. Make sure you can survive on microwave meals or have the cash to eat out (expensive in Salzburg). Some staff seem to think late night revellers are OK and "cool young people" but we were relocated to a quieter room on a higher floor with no fuss. All in all a reasonable experience but a private shower would have been better (if you can get one).

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise and fag smoke

Best Hostel I stayed in during my three week vacation to Germany and Austria. The staff was very helpful and easy to deal with. Our room was clean and had good storage lockers for our stuff (we stayed in a 6 bedroom mixed dorm). For the price you can't beat the experience. The happy hour was fun and we were able to meet people from around the world.
