“Did I visit the same city all these other people did?”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

Meh- I must be down on Salzburg. Tons and tons of people everywhere. Old city had beautiful architecture and ground floor of many of these buildings were converted into high end shopping experiences. Lots of beautiful people sitting in cafes wanting to be seen. And shopping. Women in stilettos carefully navigating cobblestones. And shopping. Too busy-bech.

“Beautiful city, but make sure you check the weather.”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

So. I am a BIG, BIG 'Sound of Music' fan, and as such, I have wanted to go Salzburg as long as I can remember. We took a day trip from our base in Munich. The trip is relatively painless - about 1.5 hours each way from the Hauptbahnhof. We got off at the main Salzburg station, which is small and was under construction when we went. With that being the case, there was only one restroom available for use. From the station we took one of the 2 or 3 buses that go into old town Salzburg. We got off right near Mozart's Wohnhaus, did a quick tour of that and then walked over the bridge into proper old town. Even with the pouring rain, and overcrowded main street, this is such a pretty city. We didn't get even the smallest glimpse of sunlight, and were soaked to the bone, but could see how glorious the city would be if there was even the smallest semblance of sunlight. I would say, this is a place worth a visit, without a doubt, but make sure that when you visit, you will have a good weather. We were unable to see much of what we had planned due to the rain. But, its a must go city. SO many beautiful cathedrals, buildings and squares. We wandered into one of the many churches for a brief respite and came across a children's choir and had to sit for 15 minutes to just listen to their lovely music. Don't forget to take the train/or hike up to Hohensalzburg, for gorgeous views of the city with the river snaking through.

“Historic Salzburg Old Town”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

We visited the Salzburg Old Town in October 2013.

Such a beautiful place and very easy to get around.

We were there on a Sunday however and the tourism bureau was closed which we found very frustrating. They need to realise tourists come to visit 7 days a week. Many of the shops were also closed in the Old Town which was also disappointing.

We did however, travel up to the fortress and had a great time up there. The history is amazing and the view is beautiful.

“Cute Austrian city”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

It is the typical Austrian city with very nice buildings and people. Everything is very traditional and we can feel we breathe history of Mozart. Please enjoy real Austrian chocolate and cream spirit. There is many views to take pictures and we can stay loger if we can.

A must visit area if you are touring Salzburg. There are many old squares, churches and monuments to discover in this area.
