Rooms in this school are available during the summer months. It is a residence for students during the rest of the year. The rooms are quite serviceable; the breakfast is good; the staff in the office are very helpful. Be aware that the washer/dryer service takes a long while. We stumbled into the St Rupert's Festival, which crowded the Old City, but the Institut was in a quiet location. A walk of perhaps five minutes took you across the river to the Old City, and the walk from the train station was about 15 minutes - with a convenient bus for non-walkers.

I stayed here for a night last month. Real convenient location in Salzburg. Nice restaurants and sites to visit. Breakfast is just a roll, coffee and watery orange juice, so do not wait for it if you are ready to go.

People running the place are very pleasant and helpful

We found the place clean and well kept. The staff were very friendly. The beds were comfortable, but we had difficulty sleeping due to street noise. People seemed to be coming and going all night and the street cleaners and garbage trucks start around 5:30 in the morning. The church bells start ringing at 6am. We went out for breakfast.

I've stayed twice here. Once as a single, I stayed in a dorm-type room with 3 bunk beds (6 total beds) and showers down the hall. The price was the same as a hostel. It was very clean, very quiet, and well run. They offered me a washer/dryer for next to nothing to do a load of dirty clothes.

The next time I went with family of five. They put us in two 3 bed room that shared a dedicated bathroom - not quite ensuite but very acceptable. They also allowed me to park our car in their tiny lot for free.

The place is very accomodating and the location is an easy walk into the old center.

The room was clean and spacious, and St Sebastian's is in a very beautiful part of the city just a stone's-throw from the Sound of Music gardens. It's a very basic place to stay - no frills, and breakfast is literally just a bread roll with some kind of spread. Overall, I would say it's great value. However, there were several minor issues which I didn't feel were acceptable even for a hostel - I brought my own towel which was taken away and lost, despite being distinctive, some members of staff were rude (although the rest were friendly) and our bin mysteriously vanished one day. That being said, it's probably reliable enough if all you'e after is a few nights in a cheap hostel!

Room Tip: The church bells are loudest on the top floor!
