“Great location at a good price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2013

This hotel is in a great location to see many of the sites by foot, or catch the HopOn-HopOff buss. It is about a 15 minute walk with luggage from the train station. On a side street and the room has double windows, so the room was really quiet. Had a standard double room and there was plenty of space by European standards. Room was clean and in very good condition The shower layout was a little strange (see traveler's photos), but functional. Free in-room WiFi that worked well, and a small refrigerator. The front desk was very friendly and spoke English well. About the only downside is the cost of the hotel breakfast, which was 15 euros. Skipped that and went to Fingerlo's about 5 blocks away where we got a really good breakfast (meat, cheeses, breads, and juice or coffee) for 8 euros.

We had a standard double room on the 5th floor with roof windows. We were there for new year and it was beautiful. The room is quite basic but new with plenty of space and a comfortable 1,60m bed. The location is very central, which is perfect for town access.

Plus: new rooms, nice bathrooms, super central location, ok front desk
Minus:
The Breakfast - we had breakfast there once, the seleciton and athmosphere in the breakfast room is not great. Many of the cafes nearby offer great breakfast, so we went there instead.(cafe fingerlos, rialto, capomio, tomaselli, pamina)
Parking: there is no parking. It is possible to access the hotel for loading and unloading, we left our car in the linzergassen garage at the top of the pedestrian streat. The Linzergassengarage sometimes offers a good weekly rate - we paid about 60 Euro for one week there.

We enjoyed our stay, however I am not sure about the rooms on the top-floor during the summer months. For the summer I would for sure upgrade to a room with airconditioning and not on the tope floor.

Brand-new hotel, excellent location. We had a great room on the fifth floor, very spacious, with lots of roof windows with a greatview of the nearby monastery on the hill on one side, and the fortress on the other side. There are cheaper options nearby, but this hotel is good value for money. Breakfast is a bit expensive, so we chose to go to nearby bakeries, there are several within a few minutes walk. There is also a mini market in the same building which came handy.

Hey there, we went to Salzburg for Christmas holidays and this hotel fitted perfectly our most wanted list:
- newly done (probably 2012)
- modern style, free wifi
- located on a quiet street
- and last but for sure not least the location, close enough to all the important but tucked away nicely.
The room has just the amenities which are needed and is rather large.
We did not took the pricey breakfast, while for a similar price you can have a full continental breakfast in one of the cafes on the river bank.

Got a good deal on Hotels.com for this little gem. Very close to old town and Hotel Sachur for all your tea and cake needs. Also close to Mozart's house. About a 10e taxi ride from the main train station or you could take the bus. Stayed for just one night, but a positive experience. Rooms are modern, but clean and well appointed. Good water pressure and hot water in room. Many restaurants, grocery store and pharmacy a block or so away. Once major downside was the wifi-- they say it is free, but you only get 1 login per room. This means that if you're traveling together with other(s), you can only use one phone/computer/ipad, etc. Worse yet, the staff seemed pretty rude about everything. Checking in in front of us was an asian woman who spoke perfectly fine English. She asked for a wifi code and the receptionist kept acting like she couldn't understand her and rolled her eyes several times. There was a definite radicalized undertone. Then she threw the ticket at the woman. She was similarly rude to us when we asked for a code. The other receptionist was very nice though so I guess it depends on who you get.

When it comes to hotels, there are 3 very basic things to me: quality of bed, cleaness of the room and heating/hot water. After that, i also consider location (keeping in mind the hotel cannot change that), service and wifi. This hotel:
Bed: good matrass, only one tiny and thin pillow per person, which made it not comfy for me.
Heating: thought it was not very cold, i could not say it was warm enough. the heating in our room was not working. We had to switch on the towel heater and leave the door of the bathroom open.
Cleanness: very good, the only good thing. Keep in mind it is a new hotel, so it is easier to keep it looking net and clean.
Wi fi: awfull!!! They did not give the password at check in, so I phoned the front office and they told me I had to go down there to get it. On top of that, even if we are paying for a double room, we can not connect at the same time and we asked for other code, we had to go down to the reception again! Still with 2 codes, it is not working properly (we are still here).
Service: medium. It could be much better.
Location: very good
In the bathroom there is only 1 tower per person, that's it! No hands towel, just one small one for the floor. They are not even big enough, I still don't know how my partner will manage (he is 2 meters tall) or myself, with my really long hair... When asked for more, the answer was they are fully booked and have no more towels.
I can hear the steps of people walking to their rooms.
Tv is too from the bed!! Even with glasses I cannot see it properly.
Also it was pricey, 169€ no breakfast!!!

Terrible value for money. I am very disappointed. A hotel is not only 4 walls and a bed and shower, it is supposed to be a pleasant or at least a comfortable experience, which star inn hotel did not provide to us.

We stayed in Star Inn on this Christmas weekend, and the experience was a mixed bag.

The Hits:
Location - The hotel location is very near to the old town and the Mozart residence,, it is also very near to bus stops connecting to the Airport/Hauptbahnhof
Cleanliness - Very neat and clean rooms

The Misses
Internet - As with some other reviewers, Internet connectivity was not upto the mark. It would get disconnected frequently! Also, a difference from another reviewer was that we could get two tickets for the internet for two devices, and they did not restrict us.
Courtesy - We felt that the staff (at least some of them) were not very courteous, we did not feel welcome. There was no attempt to explain that there is a breakfast option should we need, or that the internet was complimentary or even the check out time.
Plumbing - This is a very recent hotel, opened in May 2012. There was an issue with shower area plumbing and the water would escape to the bathroom floor. We did let the hotel staff know about it.

Overall fair value for money, but they could have done better
