The Hotel Sacher Salzburg was the finest and most hospitable hotel we have every come across in Europe. The old world charm and luxury mixed with the Austrian professionalism and hospitality made it such a perfect place for our family to stay for 5 of the 21 day vacation across Austria and Italy. We were upgraded to a suite with a connecting room for our 9 year old twins. It was luxury at it's finest, with views overlooking the river. They had everything you would need, including great free wi-fi that automatically connected when you were on the property. They also had DVD players in each room, and a list of movies in English that they would bring to your room. Our kids loved watching the Sound of Music and seeing the places we had been earlier in the day. Our corner room didn't have a balcony, but the kid's room did, and we enjoyed using it every evening. We were spoiled with fruit and Sacher tortes and chocolate in both rooms. The beds were so comfortable you didn't want to get out of them! They even had a pillow menu!! We were amazed how quickly they turned around the dry cleaning (be careful--there are separate sheets for dry cleaning and laundry, and I accidentally had my husband's favorite shirt laundered instead of dry cleaned and it shrank.) The location is perfect to walk to everything, and a great toy store is directly across the bridge from the hotel. We had a car that they valet parked, and it was easily accessible for day trips. We ate several meals in the hotel for dinner and found that if you ate outside, you could order from the menu of the grill or the cafe. Breakfasts were wonderful, and in addition to the beautiful buffet, they would also make eggs and hot things to order. The hotel Chefportier, Gerhard Reinsich, was especially helpful and charming, and recommended one of our favorite restaurants on the entire trip, Blaue Gans. Overall, they have set the bar for service and quality. Our kids favorite part of the entire trip was adding a lock on the lock-covered bridge fence across the river from the hotel for us to come back to see someday. We will definitely stay at Hotel Sacher Salzburg when we return! Thank you, Sacher staff, for making our Salzburg stay the highlight of our trip!
