“A little shower on a sunny day?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

The palace and gardens are situated a short drive outside of Salzburg. We drove there (ample parking, which you have to pay for in addition to your entrance ticket), but you can also get busses from Salzburg.

There are timed tours for the 'trick gardens' (given in English and German) which take you through all of the showpiece water features. If you want to get really wet, you can volunteer; if you don't want to, be prepared to get a bit of a soaking anyway. The gardens are a really good bit of fun and, aside from the features that are designed to get you wet, there are a number of other fountains and water-powered mechanical features (such as a fully working water-theatre) which are fascinating.

After the tour, you can go into the house itself. Your ticket includes a free audioguide which takes you through the key rooms. In the palace, you can see some of the more delicate fountain parts which have been replaced with replicas in order to preserve them; you are also shown how man of the mechanical features of the garden work.

Not something that will take all day, but definitely 2-3 hours of good, wholesome fun.

“Amusing morning!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

Great fun. To be honest I didn't fancy going here after reading some of the reviews. But it was great fun and very interesting. Worth a visit, especially if you have children with you. But many adults where squealing louder than the children when they got caught by the surprise water sprays.
Well organised and beautiful grounds. Our tour included English and German and the guide spoke excellent English. Would advise getting there early to avoid the crowds and large coach parties that where turning up as we where leaving. Allow a couple of hours to fully enjoy the grounds and house after your tour.
Entrance is again included in the Salzburg card, along with the bus costs getting there.

“Beautiful palace”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

The grounds were amazing and the palace was wonderful. You could relax on the grass by some pools if you want. I was excited for the fountains, but I was surprised at how cheesy they were. A couple of fountains were very clever and fun, however, some were tacky and not worth seeing. They are definitely great for kids or on a hot day. Bring some water and your camera (keep your camera bag handy if you see the fountains because it can get very soaked).

“Fun and refreshing -- keep it for the hot days”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013

Should you go to Hellbrunn and visit the Palace, don't miss the fountains. It is a very fun experience --particularly for children-- and a refreshing experience in a hot day. Be prepared to get a bit wet.
