We stayed here for 2 nights in Jan-Feb 2013 at the end of a skiing trip to Zell am See. Its ideally located in old Salzburg, its quite compact, due to where it is, and in the standard rooms theres not a lot of spare room but ok for short stays. Staff are friendly, free internet station and wi-fi. Its just starting to tire a little though - in our room one of the towel rails was hanging off (which they were aware of when I told them!), and some damage that hadn't been repaired very well. Big TV, good bathroom, but had a glass partition to the sleeping area which was frosted, with clear strips so privacy could be a problem. Breakfasts were standard Austrian fare, albeit fairly limited compared to other bigger establishments...why can't Austrian hotels invest in decent juice!?! Not cheap though....

Room Tip: The room upgrade may be worth the money if you want room to swing a cat

We spent a week in this hotel early in January 2013. The hotel is located right in the centre of the Old Town of Salzburg, opposite the Cathedral, in some very quaint streets which are filled with boutique type shops and rerstaurants. The hotel has only 15 rooms, and each one is furnished to a high standard, and to a specific theme.
Our own room had a bath and a walk-in shower room and was spotlessly clean. The room had a large flat screen TV on the wall opposite the bed.
Overall the hotel has a modern feel, having been updated and refurbished fairly recently. The only meal that is served is breakfast, located in the breakfast room on the ground floor. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful, and keen to help in any way.
The one thing we missed was the tea/coffee in the room. This was available from reception if required, but it would have been nicer to make your own in the room, at a time to suit yourself.
This hotel is not cheap, but in our opinion is worth every penny if you want a hotel which is not run of the mill.

Room Tip: It is worth having a superior room

We visited in late December and the hotel location was perfect. There were Christmas markets all around us. The main shopping street led off left of the hotel and there was a great restaurant nearby. The hotel is a compact European hotel with individually finished rooms, each with its own theme and character. Rooms were spacious enough and the bathrooms, although on the small side, worked well enough (The toilet was separated from the shower, which I liked). We were on the top level and it became our quiet private place in Salzburg. The breakfast was more than adequate with a good selection of food, as well as eggs any style on order from the kitchen. The Coffee of course, was great! Helpful staff and free Internet rounded off a great 3 days there. I would not hesitate to return!

Hotel Am Dom is ideally located in the heart of Salzburg Old Town. The location is perfect for all the main sites and really couldn't be any better.

The hotel is modern and quirky. Our room was furnished nicely and looked very attractive. The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. A couple of minor criticisms: it wasn't a double bed but two singles pushed together; the pillows were not great and there was only one each; there was no plug for the bathroom sink which is annoying; and finally the towels weren't great. However none of that would stop me recommending this hotel.

Breakfast was typically light but with good eggs and nice tea! You will struggle to find a full English in Salzburg other than at the international hotels.

Overall I think the hotel is great value - immaculately clean, well presented and in a superb location.

I planned this trip to Salzburg for my boyfriend's 30th birthday. Having carried out lots of research in to location, rooms and service Hotel Am Dom was the obvious choice:
- Located in the old town, it was exactly where you want to be
- The rooms were decorated in a contemporary, tasteful style whilst keeping the traditional features of the building. I decided to pay a little extra for the top room which had a free standing bath at the end of the bed, making the stay all that more special and worth every penny
- Pre-stay I must have emailed the staff about 10 times asking for recommendations and advice on other parts of my trip - every time they replied with comprehensive and very helpful information. This is a boutique hotel, don't expect international 4/5* service where you are waited on 24/7. The staff are friendly, personal and efficient, particularly Josef the owner.

Anyone going to Salzburg, I can't recommend this hotel enough.
