My family and I just stayed here this weekend (June 15-17th 2013). My family consists of myself, my wife and three kiddos aged 4 to 13. I will start by saying the price is great for the location, and most Hotels cost a lot more. However, with savings comes giving up some "normal" amenities. I will say, overall I would have given this Hotel 4 stars, if it was not for the rude staff we encountered. We had contact with one older lady who was a sweet heart and gave us lots of direction and answered a lot of questions, but there is also a younger lady (probably in her 30's) who is RUDE RUDE. She was very short with us, giving us dirty looks, as well as just being straight rude at times. For example, my wife went downstairs to ask a question, while there she grabbed 3 pieces of candy from the HUGe candy jar at the front esk (we have 3 kids remember). Well the lady has the audacity to tell my wife in a rude manner, " NO more candy we have other guests too!!", then at breakfast we sat down and did not know whether we were supposed to help ourselves or not so we ask the same lady if we just get up and help ourselves, the lady looks at us pauses with a are you stupid look and says, " Like I told you go ahead". For one she never told us anything, for two if she had this was still way rude. Finally, when my wife went to double check our check out time of noon today, the lady told my wife no we must check out by 10, which is against what we were told and planned around.
Like I said originally, the place is nice, clean, good location, and cheap. However, stay away from the staff, especially if you are American or something other than Austrian because they will be rude. also, the breakfast is below par and they do not refill things that run out.

P.S. rooms have A/c but they need a remote which you have to ask for, and they are not happy to give you. Also, guest services close EARLY ( around 5 pm) and you are on your own after that.

I was travelling with my friends around Europe. And this hotel was the most terrible hotel that I met during our trip. The price and the location was not bad. The problem was their service and attitude. I gave the hotel reception a phone call a few hours before we arrived at the hotel, and I informed the woman in the hotel reception that we were supposed to arrive there late at night past their
check-in time(9~10p.m.). She explained to us how we could get in the hotel and find our room. But I felt her busy talking with other people, and she just hung up the phone without making her explanation finished. In spite of a short phone call I felt her impatient. So I gave the male owner a phone call at his mobile phone number. And I told him that we would be late for their check-in time. He told me that he would "give us the room key" when we got to the hotel and rung the door bell. We were appreciated for his kindness to wait for us till late night and "give us the room key" But the situation we met on arrival was quite different from what we expected. When we got to the hotel over 11 p.m. and pushed the door bell, the male owner didn't come out to "give us the room key" as he had told us before by phone. Instead of coming out, he just told us some words that we couldn't understand by speaker near the porch. Unfortunately the noises of the cars and buses of the road around the hotel was so loud that we couldn't hear what he was saying by speaker at all. So we told him that we couldn't hear him at all through the speaker. After a while, a woman came out of the hotel. It was not difficult for us to see in the dark that she looked awakened a few minutes before and highly irritated because of us. It was she that gave us terrible and horrible experience in Salzburg. As soon as she met us in the porch, she exploded her anger with us. Although I definitely said "I'm sorry.", she yelled at us. Instead of taking us to our room with kind manner, She cried at us with a very hysterical voice, "Go straight! Go straight!" Absolutely horrifying attitude! We were really embarrassed. Bad manner! Bad service! So rude attitude! We were so exhausted with a hard day and so embarrassed that we couldn't say a word against the impolite attitude. The next day we met the other managing woman and came to know that the woman who had yelled at us the previous night was a male owner's sister. I strongly recommend to you that you should stay at other hotel than this because you may meet that awful and impolite woman who may spoil your whole trip. The remembrance of the night in Salzburg still makes me very irritated. So please choose other hotel!

This is a very clean, nicely renovated hotel on the outskirts of the city center in Salzburg. We had two adjoining rooms, each with full bath, which was perfect for us (couple with kids 17 & 22). The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, and bathrooms are updated with hairdryers and other amenities. The family owners were very friendly, accommodating (we stayed during Christmas), and helpful. Great breakfast buffet. The hotel is on the main bus line with service to the airport and central train station, but you can walk to the center as well in about 20 minutes.
