The beds were so comfortable, and had cotton sheets and pillows that I wanted to steal.

The breakfast was really good. They do something that I've not seen in a hotel before, which was to place lots of nice little quiches and yogurts and breakfast whatnots into individual glasses. This makes it very easy to love the food, even though it's a buffet (which sometimes slightly turns me off because it's a bit too institutional-feeling).

The spa is an unexpected bonus that we just loved at the end of a hard day's touristing. Though it's not large, it has an infrared room thingummyjig that you get only in the highest-class spa resorts; plus steam room and sauna. And a postage stamp-sized pool!

One other point: the service was very nice. Specifically: we made a last-minute change on booking.com to our reservation (36 hrs' notice that we would not need a second room), and there was not a scintilla of annoyance when the proprietor contacted us to confirm and to ask how many guests he would actually be welcoming.

A small niggle is that we had a room that clearly was used by smokers. Eurgh. Would have liked to know that beforehand. But all in all, this place is fantastic. And what a location!

We were booked out to this hotel as our original hotel had over booked. In the end we were very pleased. Great location on a quiet street but seconds from shops and restaurants. Welcome drink was a nice touch and the staff very friendly and welcoming. Free wi-fi is always good as well. Basic but spacious rooms with all you need for a city break. Would recommend to anyone coming to Salzburg.

It's is our second visit to Salzburg and we returned to Wolf Dietrich after a fantastic experience back in 2010. This time it was good the rooms are very clean and the staff provide excellent service, however the hotel looked a bit more run down this time round and this slightly detracted from the stay. Our room was very small even by European standards and the plumbing in the shower was very very slow, leaving water in the base of the shower for about 5 minutes after finishing, this meant that you had to stand in a puddle when showering.

Those issues aside, and they could have been related solely to our room, the hotel is very well located and provides a very good base for a stay in Salzburg.

The hotel has a great location and is very good value. We had a room in the old building, on the top floor, facing a courtyard, which made it very quiet. I was impressed that the bathroom had a bath-tub and some complimentary amenities. The room was very clean. There was a mini fridge, and also umbrella's for guests. Breakfast was very nice - even though they serve a buffet, someone comes to you to welcome you and offer you coffee, something that doesn't happen at every hotel we stay in! We didn't make use of the pool or sauna because we were too busy exploring the gorgeous city of Salzburg. There are some excellent restaurants really close to the hotel. We live only an hour away so we are really looking forward to coming back to the hotel and to Salzburg!

We stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed ourselves. We did upgrade to a suite - which was very funny. We were assigned room 22 the Papageno suite. I am not sure why the hotel sort of markets these as lovers suites, etc. - we arrived to faux rose pedals in a heart shape on the bed. CONS - the room is sort of "high tech" there are about 20 light switches, each controlling a set of lights it is very unnecessary and gets frustrating very easily. Unless I overlooked it in the room description, for a "suite" there is basically a claw foot bathtub for you to use - no shower. Also, the tub is next to the sink and behind a curtain from the rest of the room. The TV has a Bose sound system with tons of channels, again overly complicated with speakers in the bedroom and living area - you must use the remote to select speakers in each room, etc. There are about 3 English speaking channels out of 200 - it would be helpful if they provided a list by language to help you find the BBC. PROS - wonderful location off a pedestrian zone! Great restaurants nearby and you sort of enjoy getting our of old town Salzburg and "coming home" to this hotel. Breakfast is wonderful and the staff are amazing and helpful.

Charming boutique hotel within walking distance to everything in Salzburg. Wonderful included breakfast, comfortable rooms, friendly helpful staff. They will help with tours, restaurants, what ever you need. The welcome drink and afternoon cake and coffee was also very nice. Rooms have mini bar with decent prices. Also loved that the windows open and you could hear the church bells. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: Ask for room in the main hotel.

I and a friend stayed in the hotel for 4 days a couple of months ago. I was extremely disappointed with my stay, I do not believe that this hotel was value for money. First we were not situated in the main hotel but rather across the street. Reception, breakfast and the spa were located across the street. If we needed assistance we had to walk to the main hotel.
Some of the staff were completely unhelpful and rude.
Our room was located on the top floor of the building, the elevator did not go to this floor so we had to pull our suitcases up two flights of stairs. The walls are not soundproof at all, we could hear the people in the next room snoring.
Finally, the pictures of the spa give the impression it is rather large, but it is very small.
The only positive was that the wifi in the rooms are excellent.
But Salzburg is a beautiful place and well worth a visit
