“Great location, super 'city break' hotel”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

We stayed here for one night on our drive back from a skiing holiday. It's easy to find, and normally has parking but didn't when we were there because of a tour bus. No matter, we found on-street metered parking which cost us a lot less than the public car park!

We stayed in the Junior Suite, in the second location, across the street from the Main building. It was very comfortable and clean with a nice bathroom and a huge terrace. Lovely in the summer!

You could hear noise in the corridor, but we certainly weren't bothered at night.

I don't understand some comments re the location. It is not IN the city center - you have to walk through a little pedestrian tunnel - but it is REALLY close. We were in the heart of the city in about 5 minutes. Salzburg is a little city anyway so I don't see how anywhere could be described as far.

We enjoyed a super breakfast in the morning, and the staff were completely lovely.
It's good to know we have somewhere in Salzburg where we would definitely stay again.

It's very well located for the music lovers' since it is just a 3 minutes walk to the Venues of the Festspiele.
Clean and decent. I stayed in the second building, which was quiet and silent.
Did not try the breakfast.
They give you a free drink at the bar when you check in.

Room Tip: The secondary building is away from the noise of the front single rooms

We had v good rooms. The location was a little further from city centre but very well connected by bus. So quite convenient. The issue was on wifi. Did not work well in some of the rooms.

Breakfast was reasonable. Staff were helpful and friendly. When we checked in, quite informative about sights, sounds and how to get around.

I was in Salzburg for a long weekend in april 2012. I booked the Neutor hotel through the net and I was motivated by its vicinity to the center of the town. It was more than a pleasant surprise, it was easy to reach from the autobahn . It was a weekend so there was a lot of free parking in the surrounding streets and with a huge underground garage just a few meters away. The hotel is in 2 buildings and we were lucky to have a room on the top floor with a big balcony. The room was cozy and clean but the best part was the bathroom with a big ceiling window and lit like a beach. The staff is helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast was good, with a decent choice of foods and beverages.
The best part of the hotel is that it is connected to the center of Salzburg via a tunnel and it can be reached on foot in a few minutes walk. Also there are good public transport connections and there is a stop just in front of the hotel.
Ah, the price? Fair and it gives its money's worth.
All in all, I can say that this is a place to stay in beautiful Salzburg that I would recommend to my friends.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room in the building where the restaurant is, they have huge balconies where you...

Like a lot of other people have said this is not a 4 star hotel. Check in was good, the girl at reception was very nice and helpful. We had a junior suite, big room, bed was great. Room was looking tired. There were no complimentary....anything! Like other 4 star hotels. Breakfast was very good though. At check out we paid by credit card but got told we couldn't sign for it, we had to use the pin, which we have never had to do before, the woman was not very helpful with this said the machine says if its sign or pin and she can't change it. This should be a 3 star hotel.

Being unfamiliar with Salzburg and getting in late in the day, we drove along the waterfront looking for a hotel. After finding none and driving around town a little longer we stumbled upon Hotel Neutor. At first glance, it appeared to be in the middle of nowhere. The hotel itself looked like a time capsule; something right out of the 70s with photographs of opera singers and performers hanging all around the lobby. I'm not certain when it was built, but it hasn't been updated in a while and could stand to be renovated. The rooms were standard/basic rooms. They were nothing fancy, but clean and had everything a traveler needs, including cable TV and free WiFi. The staff was exceptional as was the included breakfast. The best part was the hotel itself was only a three to five minute walk to the old town. Walk out the front door, walk through the tunnel, and one is in old town.

We selected this hotel off the internet after we found that the Salzburg Card for accommodation must be booked well in advance. We found the Neutor to be a budget hotel rating between two and three stars, we actually stayed in the annex across the road and the only inconvenience was that we had to cross the street again for breakfast. While the room was only ordinary, it was quiet and only a short walk to the city through the tunnel. We stayed three nights. The staff were pleasant and helpful and breakfast adequate.

Room Tip: This hotel had a lift so stairs are not a concern
