The hotel may not be at the heart of Salzburg, however the city is small enough to be reached within 10 - 15 mins by foot. It is very close to the main train station, so it is a good base if you need to the train as a side trip. Deco is modern and wifi works perfectly. Service was ok depending on who is on duty.

Stayed here for two nights. The location is kinda close to the center of the town (but you can still walk from the train station) and as always in Salzburg there will be a lot of traffic outside all the time. We had to sleep with open windows so it got a bit noisy.

The interior of the place is very modern and clean. The beds and rooms are also clean and nice.

Salzburg is not a cheap city and in other towns you might expect more for your money but this is reasonable priced.

Hotel- good location, near city center; unfortunately just few parking spaces( it is possible to park on the street).
Room- clean, seemed refurbished. Our room was on the street site, very noisy with open window( no air conditioning), but we could sleep in the night.
Clean bad sheets and towels; no robes or slippers.
We stayed one night, it was a convenient location at fair price.
Staff- friendly
Not to many restaurant very close to the hotel( we dine at Stiegl Brau, hotel recommendation).
We did not have the breakfast there, but in the city center
I fully recommend this hotel for city break( close to Mirabel garden, Mozarteum).

Room Tip: rooms on the street side too noisy

Dear guest,
firstly we thank you very much for your stay in our Hotel Villa Carlton and we are pleased that you enjoyed your visit to our beautiful city. The Hotel Villa Carlton has been reopened after an overall refurbishment in April 2011. Every floor in our hotel is designed in a different way, from elegant and modern-traditional up to Pop-Art.
In our bathrooms we have reduced the amount of toiletries in order to protect our enviroment. Therefore we have indications in every room, that we can provide a larger assortement of products, aswell as slippers and bathrobes on request.
We thank you for recommending our Boutiquehotel to our future guest and it would be a pleasure for us welcoming you again in our Hotel Villa Carlton soon.
Best regards

We had a 3 night stay at this lovely hotel. We arrived in Salzburg by train, and the hotel is a 10 minute walk, and easy to find.
The room was great. It was particularly spacious, and very comfortable. It wasn't particularly hot, so the lack of air conditioning was not an issue. The bed was comfortable, and whilst there is a bit of traffic on the streets below ( the hotel is on an intersection ) this did not impact on our sleep.
We declined to pay the 14 Euro for the hotel breakfast, and the decision was vindicated with a great range of cafes only 10 minutes away as you head towards the heart of town.
It was easy walking distance to the old town, and the beautiful Mirrabell gardens are virtually next door.
The staff at the Villa Carlton were most helpful with information and were able to book us in on a tour.

A good place to stay.Yes, the hotel doesn't have air conditioning but they don't advertise that they do. The temperatures throughout our stay were quite high but a fan was provided in the room which was adequate. We stayed in a room facing the road but even with the windows open, the road noise wasn't excessive. Some noise is to be expected when staying near the city centre. The city centre is easily reached in ten minutes via a pleasant walk along the river.

We stayed at this hotel in mid June. Very specious and clean hotel, about 15 minutes walk from the city center. This hotel does not have AC, but we were lucky enough not to need it while there; but it was noisy with all the windows open. It would be nice if they put a mini fridge in the suites, as they are spacious enough to accommodate one.

We stayed at Hotel Villa Carlton from 9-12 Jul. The hotel has a decent location close to the station but some distance from the old town, however it is well connected by bus to the old town and the station.
The biggest downside for us that there was no air conditioning in the rooms and it became uncomfortable due to it being summer. The reception informed that it is an old building where no changes are permitted hence no Aircon but we would have appreciated if this information was more readily available on their website to allow us to make an informed choice.
The rooms themselves were large and well done but there was some refurbishment going on in the hotel.
Breakfast was ok but nothing great with the same menu repeated each day. A couple of fresh egg preparations could be a welcome addition especially considering the price charged.
Overall a decent stay but nothing outstanding.

Dear guest,
first of all we thank you very much for your stay in our Hotel Villa Carlton. We also thank you for leaving your feedback and are sorry that we could not quite fulfill your requirements.
It is right, that there was no an air condition built in, due to the reason that our Boutiquehotel is a building from the early 19th century. Therefore all our rooms are equipped with cooling fans.
To maintain the level of cleanness we had some paint work going on in the hotel for a few hours during the day. We always try to be as decent as possible with any repair works but do apology, if despite of this fact, you felt disturbed by it.
Our guest’s opinion is important for a hotel’s further development and we are always delighted for any suggestions. Therefore we shall consider what kind of new egg preparations we could add to our already offered fresh scrambled eggs at breakfast.
It would be a pleasure for us if you give us a second chance to convince you about our advantages.
Best regards
