We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We had two rooms, a double and a triple. The double was small but the triple was quite large. Both rooms were nice and very clean.

The hotel is conveniently located near the start of the pedestrian walkway and a short walk from the old town. There are plenty of restaurants in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast.

One drawback is that there is no air conditioning in the rooms. We were in Salzburg on a hot day so the rooms were warm and stuffy when we arrived in the late afternoon. They cooled off during the night.

We stayed at Hofwirt for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. The rooms were of a European standard in size but certainly comfortable and extremely clean. The breakfast was plentiful and the staff were lovely and extremely helpful.

The location was superb. Close to the old town easy walking of local sights. On main road but the soundproof windows worked a treat. Great eateries in the local district.

I was a bit worried after reading some of the recent reviews but we found the hotel to be great! Perfect location, just a short walk to the old town. Our rooms were at the back of the hotel so we didn't have any stree noise and our rooms were very cool. There wasn't any AC but we didn't even need to keep the window open at night. The rooms are fairly basic (only slight gripe was no drawers) but immaculately clean. Breakfast was lovely - we were really impressed with the selection and how fresh everything was. Would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask for a hotel overlooking the car park (at the back of the hotel)

This hotel was extremely dissapointing. First of all, the room was extremely hot and there is no air conditioning in the rooms. We opened the window for some air, but since our room was on the main street, it was impossible to sleep because of how noisy it was. Not only that, but we could smell cigarette smoke from people who were standing outside on the sidewalk smoking. Thus, we had to close the window and sweat out the night.
Secondly, the room was extremely tiny and had only the absolute bare minimum. Tiny tv on top of the dresser which was up near the roof, so even if we wanted to watch tv, it would have been nearly impossible. The bathroom was barely big enough for one person. The beds were of shockingly bad quality. On top of all this, the room was not even that clean. Felt kind of disgusting the whole time we were there. Would not recommend this hotel at all.

Me, my boyfriend and 2 our friends stayed at this lovely hotel for the weekend in July 2013. It has its pros and cons, but pros are more significant luckily.

Pros:
+ newly renovated (I assume the older reviews refer to the hotel in previous state) = nice though small rooms. Very clean
+ friendly staff - the receptionists I had a chance to held discussion with were friendly and helpful
+ rich breakfast for 3 star hotel
+ location: the hotel is 20 minutes on foot from the main railway station and 10 minutes walk from old city center - a great advantage if you enjoy evening walks through this wonderful city
+ lift is available

Cons:
- rooms situated to the street may be a bit noisy (cars, people coming back from the party)
- no AC in the rooms (could be a problem in hot summer days if you have room to the street - it's hard to fall asleep if you try to sleep with an open window) - however, try to ask for a room orientated to the inside of the house and this problem may be solved
- small room - on the contrary, I don't think this is a problem for short stay as the room has everything one'd need for 2 nights - a bed and bathroom (with tube)

I'd definitely choose this hotel if I went back to Salzburg.

Room Tip: Try to ask for the rooms which aren't orientated to the street.

We left wondering how it rated 3 stars. Very small room with absolute basic and minimal amenities. Our room (112) overlooked the main road and we couldn't have the window open because the noise of the traffic below was insufferable. Expect to ventilate the room with an electric table fan. One witless male guest decided to try the emergency exit which set off the fire alarm - nobody took any notice and it took someone from reception about five minutes to turn the alarm off. We also had an unwanted wake-up call at 05.30 hours which we didn't appreciate. The breakfast room is like an office canteen - and sounds like one too with its metal-legged chairs clanging into each other and dragging noises on the wooden floor (that's without taking into account the noise of the street traffic). The so-called hotel bar is in fact a side counter of the reception desk - consequently uninviting and not well-attended. During our 7-day stay I asked two questions to two members of staff who were unable to help me when all it needed was a quick phone call but that appeared to be beyond their capabilities. The hotel is clean enough but that's not unusual in Austria. It's location is fine but very noisy. Would recommend finding alternative accommodation which offers better facilities for your money - there's lots to choose from.

Very rude receptionist. We were shocked to meet such an uncultured person in Austria. Very dirty small rooms. Room cleaning is really really bad.Bathroom is full of someones hair. Bedroom is the same. I have spent two dreadfull nights at this hotel. I advise to avoid this hotel.
