“Lovely hotel, very friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2014 via mobile

The hotel is quite charming. The rooms are very spacious. The staff revived my faith that friendly people and amazing service could be found in Austria. My only complaint was that at night there tended to be a lot of noise outside that the wk does did little to block.

My husband and I have just returned from another fantastic stay at the Hotel Bristol. We celebrated our wedding at the Hotel on 29th December 2012 and decided celebrate our first anniversary there as well, as we knew it would be hard to find anywhere quite as special. This is a beautiful hotel and I would highly recommend a stay here no matter what the occasion but if you want somewhere that has extra magic the Hotel Bristol certainly provides it.

Unfortunately, due to time restrictions on our part, we only managed to stay for 3 nights this time. This is one of those places that you will find that you don't want to leave!

We were greeted at reception by Christine Maier and shown to our room. It is great to see a number of the Hotel Bristol team year after year and we feel like we are visiting old friends!

Having arrived earlier than usual it was great to find that our room was already available. As I have said, in my 2 previous reviews, all of the rooms that we have stayed in at this hotel have been great. On this occasion we were in Room 488. This has fantastic views of the City and, in addition, once you switch all the lights off at night the ceiling becomes a mass of twinkling stars..very clever and certainly adds to the romance.

On our first night we were extremely tired and decided to opt for a toasted sandwich in the Sketch Bar by the fire; the snack menu available on room service is very good as well.

We love breakfast at this hotel. Served in the opulent Crystal Room (which is extra special for us as we held our Wedding Dinner here), the selection of fruit, cheese, cold meats, fresh bread and cakes is great along with the cooked breakfast. On the morning of our anniversay a table had been reserved for us with a red rose and a candle with glasses of prosecco to hand.

The hotel also left us a bottle of prosecco in our room on the evening of our anniversary, which was a lovely surprise.

We decided that we would visit the Untersberg mountain as we have not done so before and also we fancied a trip out to the snowy mountain tops. Christine printed off the bus timetables for us and also all of the details about the cable car. The bus stops outside the Hotel (number 25) and literally drops you at the door of the cable car. This trip is not for the faint-hearted - I am a tad nervous of heights and once you exit the cable car whilst the views are spectacular..there are no railings and sheer drops.

Anyway back to the Hotel Bristol...what more can I say...you won't find a better option in Salzburg for romance, style, location or most of all the friendly team!

This is a lovely hotel and a wonderful choice for Salzburg. In terms of class, it's probably about a 4 star --- nicely furnished and well decorated, but has imitation marble flooring in the bathrooms etc. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, there were good climate controls and a safe in the closet, and our room was very quiet. It is located in what I consider the desired location in Salzburg, across the pedestrian bridge from the noisy, touristy area, but adjacent to Mirabell Garden. My only fault with the room, and it is a tiny quibble, is that there is not adequate clothing storage for a stay longer than a couple of days. Since most people don't stay in Salzburg that long, this is not really an issue for most people.

Their breakfast was quite good and plentiful. Much better, in fact, than the fancier hotel that we stayed at in Vienna!

The staff of the hotel was exceedingly nice and pleasant to deal with. I highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed here this time last year , on our way to Schladming for a ski ing holiday. we just wanted one night to see Salzburg and the Christmas markets.- I am writing this now, because I am at home wishing that we were going again this year!! Absolutely wonderful hotel- full of character, and excellent service. The rooms were all different, with old character, but modern facilities. Easy walking distance to the Christmas Markets- we took my 85 year old mother and she walked easily over the bridge, and into the markets ! Can't wait to go again- wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Salzburg now. Thank you for a wonderful stay

Stayed for two nights with a dinner package. The hotel lived up to all expectations. It was just a great experience to stay at this hotel with such history. The rooms were large and luxurious with a big bathroom. A gift of Salzburg chocolates were waiting in our room. There is free wifi throughout the hotel. Breakfast was really good with a huge selection of hot and cold foods, as well as sparkling wine for a special treat. The included dinner was a bit over the top for our simple tastes, but it was very good and I would recommend this package if staying for two nights or more. There was also a bowl of chocolates and caramels put out each evening near the stairs leading to the lifts. A great experience and recommended for a splurge.

Just got back from a stay at the Hotel Bristol, due to a trip to the Christmas markets. The hotel is full of old world charm and beautifully decorated. The house keeping service is brilliant! I have never known a hotel with such discreet service, you never saw anyone, but the attention to detail was outstanding.
The hotel is very centrally located, there is a bus stop just outside, but we walked everywhere as the weather was good and didn't see the point of being on a bus.
Breakfast was fantastic in the opulent Crystal Room. There was a plentiful supply of everything that you would expect, and if you want extras such as omelettes, pancakes etc. then just ask one of the lovely staff.
All in all, if I was in Saltzburg again I would most definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: A room over looking the square was wonderful, you could see Mozarts house!
