We stayed in Hotel Mozart for 6 nights over Christmas. This was my fourth time in Salzburg and our second time staying at Hotel Mozart. We love Salzburg and we love Hotel Mozart! It is a great place to stay and I will tell you why:

This is a small (approx. 36 rooms), family run hotel with a lot of warmth and personality. In their price range are big chain "tourista" hotels such as Austrotel. We have stayed in Austrotel. It's a bland place. Why would you want to stay there when you could stay at a charming place like Hotel Mozart? Plus the rooms at Hotel Mozart are nicer.

The Ast Family and their staff take great pride in their hotel and will go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay in Salzburg with information, recommendations and reservations. Renee and Bruno worked very hard to get us last minute dinner reservations for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day when most restaurants were closed. Additionally, the people working at Hotel Mozart are gracious and really fun to be around! They are happy with what they are doing and that happiness comes through to the customer.

Hotel Mozart is located in the "Neu Stadt", or New City side of Salzburg. It is centrally located to Linzergasse, the main shopping and dining area of the Neu Stadt, very near the Mirabelle Palace and Gardens, and close to all of the bridges across the Salzach River. It is a five minute or less walk to the Panorama Bus tour station where most of the Sound of Music Tours leave from, as well as all the other Panorama Bus tours like the Salzkammergut trips. The Marionette Theater is also very close. It is a quick and easy 10-12 minute walk to Getreidegasse, the main shopping street in Salzburg and to all the attractions of the Alt Stadt. There are many great restaurants near Hotel Mozart and you will enjoy the scenic vistas of the Salzach river and the Castle as you cross the footbridges above the river.

We have stayed in room 403 the last two times. It is a larger corner room on an upper floor. The view of the mountains from this room is breathtaking. The bathroom is modern and good sized.

Breakfast is very good and has all the usual cereals, fresh fruits, breads, coffee, capucino, cold cuts, eggs and wonderful pastries that you would expect at a nice hotel. You can choose to have breakfast included as part of your stay at Hotel Mozart or not. But it is so easy and quick to just pop out of bed in the morning and head down to breakfast. There may be a discount on breakfast if you purchase it in advance. The breakfast room is cozy and the breakfast ladies are friendly and attentive. And like many of the other staff, they wear lovely traditional Austrian dress (Trachten).

Go stay at Hotel Mozart for a real Salzburg experience! Hotel Mozart is consistently rated among the top ten hotels in Salzburg on TripAdvisor. There are good reasons for their top ten rating. This is a nice place and a good value.

Room Tip: Request a larger corner room on an upper floor. Although they do not always have them available, you...

The hotel is small and it is situated very close to the Old city (only five minutes away on foot).
from the moment we arrived we got the feeling that we were in a friendly enviroment starting from the receptionist who provided us with many leaflets regarding the city of Salzburg and gave us a lot of information.
The room was spacious and quiet.

Visited the Mozart hotel in late December 2012 with my boyfriend. The hotel service was very good, and the staff were very friendly. The front desk recommended a nice restaurant for dinner and called ahead for a table for us so we didn't have to wait. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The location was alright, but not quite in the downtown location where I thought it would be. The breakfast was very good with lots of options. There was free wi-fi, however you could only connect to it while in the lobby which was a bit of a hassle. No pool or sauna. No free parking although they gave you a discount for an underground parking lot up the street which works out to 13 euros for 24hrs. All in all we had a pleasant stay, however I think it was a bit over priced for what it actually was.

Room Tip: The rooms in the front are a bit noisy as they are close to the main street.

Our party took four rooms in this hotel and the standard of the rooms was generally very good but did vary slightly – some of the bathrooms had been refurbished and others had not. The rooms very relatively small and basic but the beds were very comfortable and everywhere was very clean.

What impressed me greatly was the level of service offered by the staff on reception; they helped us with restaurant recommendations and reservations and also organised a hotel pick up for a tour we had booked prior to arrival. All the staff were both friendly and efficient.

Breakfast was good quality and varied but, apart from boiled eggs, mainly with cold options.

The hotel is situated in a pleasant area with lots of good restaurants around, and the walk into the centre of town was only about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on where you wanted to go. The hotel is also within walking distance of the main train station.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a refurbished bathroom.

Spent a weekend at the Hotel in early December. Our room was at the top of the hotel with views over the town. A short walk from the centre of town and the Christmas markets. It snowed whilst we were there and the only added to the magic of the city. Good places to eat nearby. Lovely staff nothing to much trouble a very good breakfast.

Actually stayed here December 2011 with husband and 11 year old daughter ( Ive taken awhile to review ..oops).
We walked from station which took approx.10 mins
Hotel rooms were spacious - we had a triple room which was perfect for us.
Breakfast was beautiful and the morning staff were so accommodating and friendly.
Easy walk to Christmas markets and town centre. Everything really is in walking distance from this hotel! We walked to the fortress and then walked up to it...only do this if you want some good exercise as path up is quite steep.
Every night on the TV they play 'Sound of Music' which my daughter loved !
Hotel even gave us a mozart CD when we left !
Would have no hesitation to stay here again

Hotel Mozart in Salzburg turned out to be a reasonable hotel with quite a large room but relatively dated. The main downside was a poor (but free) wifi internet which only worked intermittently in the room and was quite slow in the lobby. The reception staff were always very helpful and tried to help us find suitable accommodation in Vienna which we had intended to visit, but was booked out at the time.
