Bought a 48hr Salzburg card which entitled us to enter the palace and trick fountains. No charge to visit the grounds.
We were told that we had to be guided through the trick fountains before we were allowed to enter the palace and gardens - which was totally wrong.
The ancient fountains and sculptures were pretty good but found the ones that the guide turned on and of were a bit tacky and the group was way too big to see everything.
The palace was under-whelming as it was pretty small and didnt have many fixtures and fittings...left me cold.
The grounds though are lovely. Lots of big trees that had just got their new leaves. Smelt so fresh. Some big ponds with huge fish also. Really nice place to have a picnic at no cost (except for maybe parking).
Last time we visited this place, they were getting ready for xmas markets. So much colour and the grounds had a cool wintery look.
2 places to sit and eat but they were pretty expensive as you would expect given the location.
Suggest you bring a picnic if on a budget.
2 blocks of clean toilets at no charge.
No. 25 bus from Salzburg drops you out front.
