the magic fountains are cute and good for some laughs. The tour guide will tell you where the water will come out if its cold outside, or you can also just look on the floor for water. Be aware however that the guide we had had a very thick accent and was hard to understand so even if he told you, you may not understand. The gardens are pretty but small, in the back corner they have a huge children's playground. Up on the hill they have a small palace with a museum of Salzburg culture with costumes, furniture, etc. Nothing too interesting and its a hard climb. The gazebo from the sound of music is also there and worth a quick look. The palace itself is hardly a palace and has a few wall paintings and about 4 pieces of furniture, nothing too exciting.

This is a fairy-tale like place only 20 minutes by bus from Salzburg. Noted for it's 'trick-fountains', which are worth seeing! Bright yellow structures and lovely gardens, plus the palace make for a very pleasant visit. There is also a very nice restaurant on site.

The highlight here for us was seeing the road where the children in Sound of Music were in the trees, and the gazebo that has been moved there. We didn't get to do much of a tour of the grounds, so I cant really comment, but the entire place looked worht a visit. We just didn't have time.

We stopped here on Hop on Hop off bus around Salzburg. Forturnately the tour was just starting, which you need to get wet. Pleasant walk around the gardens and of course, the Sound of Music gazebo, but my it looks small,

The Schloss Hellbrunn itself is a very short tour and does not require too much time. The one thing you should not miss is the tour of the trick fountains. It is a fun experience for everyone. The gardens are a lovely place to sit back and relax. You do not have to pay if you have a Salzburg Card. Else, there is an entry fee.
