“Great welcoming hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

From the reception staff to the restaurant staff friendly helpful and made every effort to make your stay great.

Rooms good comfortable not too hot.

Good facilities including a small pool and sauna although the pool for me was a bit old.

Good location right by the mirabelle gardens

My wife and used a combination of the reviews on Trip Advisor and our Frommers guide to Austria to select this hotel. We wanted to be able to walk to the old town. We were hoping for an indoor pool and we wanted good service and great beds.

This hotel has an excellent, courteous and helpful staff. The concierge Andrei was polite and informative. Our buddy at the bar, Luca, provided some good choices and prompt service.

It was almost like the staff considered any request as a pleasure to serve. We walked to the hotel from the train station. Both of our suitcases have wheels, we are in our mid 50's....
It's about ten minutes.

If you wanna be out of the hustle and bustle down by the river, this place is a short 15 minutes away. Make sure you pay attention to the map of the city, the streets twist and change names.

We would definitely recommend this location. Note that the lobby bar can be a tad smoky, yet my wife smokes so I am conditioned to deal with it. They have Canadian Club and Ginger Ale at the bar!

I loved this hotel. It's close to the train station and beautiful flat riverside walk into the old town.
The beds are very comfortable and we liked the double basins and separate toilet of our suite. The staff are tops. Friendly funny helpful and accurate.
The breakfast food is fine with an astonishing array of teas to make up your own pot. Tea is the new coffee!!
I had no problems with wifi service. Salzburg has so much to do we never turned on the TV at all so its lack of latest screen was not a problem at all. I liked the furnishings- minimalist you can always find - beautiful fabrics are much more luxurious.
We will be back.

Stayed at the Crowne for 2 nights in a family room with our two kids aged 9 & 10. The room was extremely spacious and clean. The Hotel is in a very central location and the staff were very welcoming and helpful . We will differently return.

We booked a room for family of four. The family room was very spacious. The beds were firm and very comfortable, even for the sofa bed which I would consider to be one of the best sofa beds I had ever used. The hidden gem was the Pitter Keller restaurant at the basement, with friendly environment and was very suitable for families with children. The main courses, Salzburg trout and Austrian beef, were great.

The hotel service was professional. I booked a taxi at 4:30 in the morning and the taxi was there on time.

Some travel info here. My family of four travelled from Kirchberg to Crown Plaza by discounted taxi and one way journey costs about 176 Euros and took about 1 hour 20 mins. The hotel is about 20 mins from Salzburg Airport and taxi fare costs about 15 Euros.

The Crowne Plaza in Salzburg has plenty of amenities but the one that you want to really enjoy is the food and beer. This hotel has a couple of major draws. The first is that the Pitter Keller restaurant is in the basement of the hotel. Great Austrian food, lots of draught beer and the waitresses are happy, service is great and the atmosphere very good. Also the hotel has a cigar, smokers bar that does light snacks and any cocktail you desire.

The hotel is on the north side of the city center. A 5 minute walk takes you to the center for attractions and other amenities. If you are a runner, then the hotel is located 2 min jog to the riverway were you can run along and see some great views.

The hotel itself again is perfect for business or for a short vacation stay however be careful of the bad wifi internet service. It is free for priorty members however if you are not then you pay for rubbish internet. It is just not strong enough for modern programs like Skype or running any video streaming.

The rooms are average and need a touch up. No HD TV like most chains have today. I had two single beds put together when i booked a full room and the decor is a little old. But quite comfortable. The bathrooms are tiny and is tough to get in and out of the shower. If you are a bigger person then could present a challenge.

There is an average fitness center but they have a nice small pool with a sauna and steamroom you can enjoy. Just be careful as I was in the pool and 2 naked Austrian/Germans came into the pool and it gave me nightmares i do not wish to have again. Maybe this is cultural but if I was hotel management I would put a sign up forbidding that as it is not good for other guests.

Breakfast was good but expensive if you dont have it in your membership or package. They had a good offering of many items and fresh juice, with coffee and tea.

I used the laundry facility and to be honest it is a captive audience so it is very expansive. But for those business travelers you will pay top euros for this service.

I will probably stay here again as I visit the area two or three times a year. A pretty good hotel with very friendly people in a good location.

Room Tip: Try the Pitter Keller for lunch or dinner one night. If you want to drink beer close to the hotel th...

We need a room one night in our road to Hinterglemm, and Crowne Plaza was the very best choice that we have it. Our 4 members family are very happy on this hotel, and all the personal was very nice with us. Is a good option for your stay in Salzburg.
