The Goldener Hirsch is extremely well located and in easy walking distance to anything you want to see in the city. Upon arrival, the hotel immediately gives a feeling of charm like something out of a movie. The room was ample by European standards and the staff was excellent. Our travel agent always get us breakfast included and the hotel has an outstanding one. The furnishing are authentic and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We have been many time at this hotel during the Mozart Festival and we keep returning
The hotel is in the historic center and the building itself is a historical one
The style can be considered old fashioned but we don't regret it, the service is perfect
The possibility to reach all concert hall and interesting just by walk is ideal to may relax
We really recommend this hotel

This hotel is adorable! The front desk staff were effusively friendly and very helpful. I don't know whether to call the staff's clothes "uniforms" or "costumes", but either way, they amplify the Austrian ambiance.

One note on the location: the hotel is near one end of the main old-town pedestrian street, so while it's close to everything a tourist might want to see, it can take some walking if you want to get away from the tourist crowds. From inside the hotel, however, you wouldn't know that there is such a crowded street outside.

Sorry to hear it's closing for renovations--it will be interesting to see what's changed vs. what's kept.

Room Tip: Room 34 may be larger than my apartment

This hotel is very conveniently located in heart of Salzburg old town, has great staff/service, good food in the restaurant, and large, beautiful rooms full of beautiful old wooden furnitures and doors, for example. And the hotelbuilding is really old, so of course built long before they made long straight hallways etc,, and this made inside the hotel and its corridors, hallways, stairs and such really interesting and fun as well as being beautiful.
Personally, I like having some kind of [very very dim] night light available for unfamiliar bedrooms at night, but lacking this was the only minor quible I can think of right now.
We loved staying there, even though only for three nights.

Room Tip: Our room was beautiful and spacious inside and had no view -- I'm guessing all the rooms are like this.
