The Salzburg tour was ok. The tour guide just reads off a bunch of fact while traveling and they drop you off at the destination. No actual tour once in the city. Good thing I had been there before and knew what to show my family. She only told us about the castle and Mozart's house. Salzburg is much more that that.
The Eagles nest tour was horrible. It was an English tour and the lady did not speak English very well. They didn't inform anyone that the Eagles Nest was closed until after they took off. Many people were upset. You have to pay for the trip, then for the entry fees once on the bus. It was so bad, it got funny after awhile. "There is a tree, a very old tree that is old" Couldn't give us any other significance really. The bad weather was not her fault but they could have told everyone before they left the station. It seem like she was reading off random facts with no rhyme or reason. Just BAD.
I should have known better. We used this company in Washington DC and had a bad experience.

We did a full day tour - Eagles Nest, Lake konigsee, Salt Mine and Berchtesgaden. Good day for it as was raining heavy and freezing so would have been a long day in Salzburg. The day was a success. Picked up from the hotel on time. The host Walter was fantastic. Full of info and very very funny. The day ran smoothly and we seen some great sites. Eagles Nest was at favourite even though it was snowing heavy in the mountains. Followed by Lake Konigsee and finally the Salt Mines. The stops offs at Berchtesgaden helped break up the day and recharge.

We paid via the hotel and they sorted everything. So easy and a great tour company ( we don't usually use tour companies but would reckoned these guys if heading over the border )

Ice Caves are a must see in Salzburg, if your fit and don't mind stairs then add this to your list. I did however find this tour very overpriced for what you get. The entry fee to the caves isn't even included so you're really just paying for a bus ride and there are cheaper options if you don't mind sorting out your own transport.

First of all our tour guide was Peter and he was fantastic! I have read other reviews saying that this tour was to short, for me it was just right. We didn't do the salt mines or the lake, which you can add. Everything he suggested we do was fabulous including where to have lunch! Highly suggest them while in Salzburg:)

What does a family doe in Salzburg? Saw the brochure in our hotel for Panorama Tours and chose the morning Sound of Music and the afternoon Berchtesgarden Salt Mine tours. A great choice. We paid at the hotel and were collected from the hotel in a mini-bus and then joined the tour bus. Fantastic, informative, very enjoyable. Recommended.
