You will find a slew of places to stay in Salzburg, out Moosstrasse south of the city. I am sure they are all fine, but you cannot beat Frau Steiner and her pleasant house. We stayed in a room (who am I kidding? It was practically a suite) with a view of the Untersberg, the local mountain inhabited by Charlemagne and an army of dwarves. Breakfasts were pleasant and vast; getting into town was easy on the bus, and Frau Steiner herself was indefatigably kind and helpful.
One thing to rest easy about: If you are like me, you check out the location on the map. And you will notice that it appears to be under the airport´s flight path. This was not a problem. Nights were peaceful.
Oh: Get the Salzburg card. If you are doing any sightseeing, it is a real bargain.More
