“World's most amazing customer service, bar none!”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

We recently stayed at the Hotel Atrigon for an international fencing tournament. Though it sounds crazy, my husband has been unsuccessfully looking for a spaetzel press for YEARS in the US. I thought Austria--great! Easy Xmas gift! I asked the very helpful desk clerk to suggest a store, but then informed us that friday, our single free day, was a national holiday and that ALL shops would be closed. She suggested that we try Saturday, but that was the first, and longest day of the competition. She VOLUNTEERED to go get me one on her day off with her own money and leave it at the desk. If I didn't like it, she'd return it. Apparently there's another more inexpensive tool to make spaetzel she explained, but she seconded using a press. She got it, I paid for it, and it was PERFECT! Christmas is saved!

How many people would do this? She didn't know me from a hole in the wall yet spent her own money and free time to help me out. Amazing.

Now for the hotel. Nice rooms, a bit larger than the European average. Awesome breakfast in a beautiful setting, and soooo close to the venue for fencing that walking in the October snow was no problem. Close to the train station grocery and very easily walkable to downtown (if only to peer in closed store windows). If next year's competition is held there, we'll stay again.

I stayed here as part of a group of people all visiting Klagenfurt for the Ironman triathlon.
The hotel is conveniently located close to the train station. The rooms are very comfortable and large. Breakfast was excellent, both hot and cold fare. The staff were really helpful with giving us recommendations for restaurants and calling taxis etc.
Would definitely stay here again!

This is very definitely a business hotel so go somewhere else if you want loads of "character". But do go if you're looking for a comfortable place to sleep. The beds are good quality, the rooms a decent size, and there's a nice breakfast buffet. The location is good for the railway station (although still ten minutes walk to the actual station entrance) and still less than twenty minutes to the city centre. Despite the proximity to railway lines, the building is soundproofed well enough that I didn't hear any rail noises in my room.

We stayed here when the ironman triathlon was on, so the hotels were pretty booked out.

Even so, this was a reasonable choice. The staff were excellent, particularly Carmen at the front desk in the evenings, but also everyone else we encountered.

The rooms were quite old, but ok. Parking was good once inside, but a nightmare to enter with a 9 seater van. Breakfast had a reasonable selection, with a nice outdoor eating balcony. Location was good for trains, and average for anything else.

Would stay again, although would prefer a location closer to the centre or to the lake.

Stayed here for the Ironman in 2011. myself, wife and 15 year old son in a triple room. There were lots of "Ironmen" and families here. It was a great hotel for the purpose. Breakfast was very good and they laid on a 4am breakfast on race day. Rooms were well appointed and we were welcome to keep our bikes in our rooms (which we all seemed to do). The hotel does not do evening dinners, but this is ok - you've got plenty of choice in Klagenfurt. The hotel is not dead central - maybe a 15 minute walk from the centre of town. Views from our room of the distant mountain range was spectacular and the windows were huge! For the price - good value, very friendly, efficient, clean hotel.

We stayed at hotel Atrigon during the 2011 Ironman race. Perfect location and very accommodating. There were 8 of us and rooms are large and comfortable. Breakfast was just right and race day was fantastic as the hotel arranged a shuttle for the participants. They went above and beyond even coming out to the race to cheer their hotel guests and snap photos of them on the route. Great experience. Thank you.

We booked this hotel for one night because we were going on an early bus to Venice. Although this place is not very attactive from outside but it is nicely decorated inside. The staff is very helpful and speaking good English. We walked to downtown for dinner. It took 10 mins only.
