As a family of 4 we stayed for a week in "Mitzi und Paula", one of the 5 individual apartments in the Altstadthaus. Each room is designed with lovely details around the live stories of the 2 post office clerks Mitzi and Paula. Our children loved to find clues like stamps, old postcards and poems.
The bedroom has a large double bed, large drawer and huge flat screen TV. From the window you can see the tree covered hills around Graz. In the kitchen is a sofa, that can be transformed into another double bed, a beautiful old tiled stove, several tables and even a balcony. The fully equiped kitchen (incl. dishwasher!) had a view into the green garden with old trees. The large bathroom is amazing, especially when staying with children: large walk-in shower and a bath tup. Towels, linen, tea, coffee and spices are all provided.
Within a 10 min walk (near the church) is a bakery with fresh bred, buns and cakes, a shopping mall and best of all: the large Augarten park with a huge playground, public open air pool and the children's museum. To get to the city center, one can take the bus (4 stops to Jakominiplatz) or walk 20 min along the lush, tree lined sidewalk next to the Mur river.
Bonus: the bookshelves are filled with novels, detective stories and children's books (both German and English), that are not only for decoration: everyone seems to be welcome to use this library.
We've never stayed in a such a spacious, poetic place on our holidays before. All in all we had a wonderful time and would love to return!
