And I was really excited to see how Graz has developed. Specially excited I was how the Hotel Weitzer has been transformed. Although we have stayed at an Economy Room (The Price was just too tempting) the room had everything we needed
- Quadruple Glazing (so no noice came in)
- excellent anti-allergic pillows and duvets
- More then 100 TV Programs
- Free Internet
The Breakfast for 14 EUR is excellent and superfresh - a real treat!
The big difference are the people - they are all friendly, courteous and exceptionally trained and the real reference for the Weitzer - Wiesler - Daniel Group!
2 must things to do:
- Rent the Mercedes SL 300 from 1983 Cabrio (you will never be able to drive one again for 69 EUR only)
- Have Lunch and Dinner at 'Der Steirer' Restaurant - exceptional Austrian Cuisine
how nice! Thank you so much for summarize your impressions – we truly appreciate it. It’s a great pleasure reading that you enjoyed the stay in our hotel.
Hopefully it will not take you another 10 years to visit us again :-)
Best regards, Eva and the Hotel Das Weitzer team
First time in Graz, did not know what to expect. Hotel was booked for me, good location with walking distance to beautiful UNESCO heritage old town. Large lobby/bar, receptionist was friendly and asked me for my room preference. I told her to put me in a nice room: bad decision, I ended up on a first-floor (US read second floor) room facing the river and the street. No view, unlike promised by the receptionist. The room was very warm, A/C did not work, so I had to leave the window open at night, which let in the traffic noise. However, it helped dilute the lingering whiff of tobacco smoke (although they claim to be smoke-free).
Room was huge, bathroom tiny with only a shower, and there was this step between the bedroom and the entry hall I never failed to stumble over. WiFi was free and fast, breakfast plenty, healthy and hearty. The latter possibly due to the tradition of a Kaffehaus integral to the hotel, which has been there for over 100 years.
Mixed impression, however tainted to the negative as, after three nights the bed gave me a terrible back pain this morning, and I am not prone to having that. Overall, not too bad, but during my next trip to Graz I will try my luck with another hotel.
Dear Mr. Gebo18,
thank you very much for taking your time to comment on your stay here at the Hotel Das Weitzer!
I am very glad to hear, that you liked our location and our staff. I am surprised that you didn’t like the view towards the river, because most of our guests ask for those rooms when reserving a room. During the early spring time we still keep the heating switch on to keep our rooms warm during the cool nights. You can be asured that the A/C will be working as soon as the temperatures will rise!
I feel very sorry that you had an uncomfortable sleep. Please inform us prior to your arrival or even during your stay if you prefer a harder or softer bed!
We all here at the Weitzer would very much like to welcome you back when you visit Graz again.

Very centrally located hotel. Nice views of the river and castle. Rooms are clean and a good size. Good value for money. Breakfast choice was great. Staff helpful and friendly. Easy 5 minute walk to town centre shops and restaurants.
Dear Alan P,
thank you very much for taking time to rate us on Tripadvisor and for your nice review. You have made our day :-)
We are looking forward welcoming you soon again!

This hotel is excellently situated in the middle of Graz. The reception area is strange when compared to other hotels throughout Europe. It is split into three sections with the two outer sections being the receprion desks.
The daytime receprionists throughout our stay were surly and not very helpful. In fairness the night reception was excellent.
The hotel has minimal facilities in the rooms. If you want tea or coffee you must go to the main hotel area as there are none in the room.
So in conclusion, excellent situation, if dealing with reception try to do in the night time and don't expect to get a drink in your room unless using the mini bar.
Thank you very much for taking time to comment on your stay with us.
I have the impression you experience mixed feelings during your stay. We are very glad to hear that you find the location of the hotel excellent and also our night receptionists seem to have impressed you.
On the other hand I am surprised about your comments about our daytime receptionists as them not being helpful and surly. I feel very sorry that you got this impression of them. I can ensure you that we will discuss this matter internally!
I do have to say that our rooms have all facilities you would expect from an Austrian hotel. We do serve freshly brewed coffee and tea which you can have delivered to your room, but do not see the necessity to place tea and coffee making facilities in each room. We prefer to spend money on renovations and refurbishments of the rooms and the hotel areas!
I would like to invite you to revisit us, so we can prove to you, that we are one of the best in town.

We stayed in the Hotel Das Weitzer while visiting friends in the area for 2 nights in January. We booked a few months in advance and got a great rate of 85 euros a night for a classic room including breakfast for 2 people. We did not have to settle our bill until departure, normally with these great offers you have to pay at the time of booking.
The room was very bright and ultra modern and faced the river, we had a little balcony also, we could admire the snow as it was a novelty for us coming from Ireland !. Once the windows and lovely white wooden shutters are closed you will not hear a single noise at night time. Breakfast was served from 07.30 am until 11am at the weekends and offered a great selection from fresh fruit, cereals and cheese and ham to hot food, I had the hot chocolate twice from the self service machine and it was very tasty !
The location is perfect right in the center of Graz with plenty of cafes and restaurants. Graz is a lovely place to visit for one or two nights as it is small but well worth a visit ! Do pay a visit to the lovely K & O department store and pop up to it's beautiful rooftop cafe for some refreshments to admire the great view ! We had a fantastic meal in their adjoining restaurant Der Steirer the food was high quality local food at very reasonable prices.
We did find the rooms a little to warm for our liking despite having turned off the radiator in the room, but this was a minor problem for us.
The rating for this hotel should be a lot higher on Tripadvisor in my opinion.
Enjoy your stay
WOW - this is such a nice review about your stay at our hotel - you made our day :) Thank you!
We are very pleased that you liked your room, the breakfast, our restaurant Der Steirer and the surroundings of the hotel. We are also very happy to read that you liked the city of Graz so much - this city is always worth a visit - maybe you will come in summer one time? When the little restaurants with its little outdoor dining areas.
Hope to see you soon again and thank you again for this excellent rating :)
