We stayed here for a few days, and had mixed feelings.
Good things: Bed, excellent linen. 10 out of 10 for that.
Staff tried very hard to be nice and helpful, both at the desk, and in the bar/restaurant breakfast staff.
great breakfast, although some things seem to "run out" at times. 9 of 10.
Not so good things: no proper ventilation system in bathroom, so the fog on mirror stays forever if you take a bath. So forever stays the smell, when you use bathroom. Can be a bit embarrassing. 2 out of 10 for bathroom.
All room doors are slamming in a noisy way, and you will get a nasty wake-up to their sound. a small rubber pad on each door would fix it. 3 out of 10 for this.
Smokers in the bar, without a place for non-smokers to hide, and again - no efficient ventilation to remove smoke. Like a pub in sixties. Very unpleasant for visiting non-smokers. 2 out of 10.
Location of hotel - a bit on side, away. long walk to the city center, no shops around, nothing.
Very bad things:
While I praised the staff, I have to say - it is top management who fails badly. One would expect that at arrival to a fine hotel after a long trip, there may be a free water to welcome you in your room. No - the small bottle in your room has a steep price of 4.50 Euro. Drink tap water or pay!
One could also expect that - similarly to many lower priced hotels these days - your internet will be included, or you will at least get the 30 minutes complimentary free use - offered by the least generous chains. No again - you need to pay 15 euro a day for privilege of having interment in the room, like it was a novelty, or something very fancy these days.
There is free internet in the lobby, but there can be very crowded, noisy, running kids - and clearly this is what management counts on - to push you towards paying a high price for using it in the room.
The expensive water, crazy price for internet, along with overpriced goods in a reception shop - they all show you clearly about the desire to milk you out of your hard earned money - they all point to the greed of top management and hotel owners. No elegant gestures, no feel of being welcomed. Pay! Pay now! It leaves a bad taste, does not "feel like home" at all. 1 out of 10 for that. Bad, bad, bad. Rethink it!
Overall 4 out of 10 - which translates to 2 out of 5. And it could easily be much better, if not for design faults and greed.
