Owner description: Take the panorama funicular railway up the mountain at Hallstatt to discover the mysterious attraction of this mystical area. The path leads to the tunnel mouth and into a unique underground world first dug by hand more than 3000 years ago: many kilometres of tunnels lead deep into the rock interior. Enjoy a day full of fun and information at the Salt Mine Hallstatt for the hole family.

Must go do. Great time for all ages. Something for all ages, informative, fun, the slides are great try a race and check your speed times, small train fun for kids and adults. We had a great time out of the rain and found the whole experience well worth the trip. Make it a full day and visit hallstatt

Our focus on this trip was Hallstatter See which is 500 meters above see level and surrounded by mountais. Among all the towns around the lake, Hallstatt is the most spectacular. We arrived at the lake on a beautiful sunny day and our children enjoyed feeding the swans there. As we arrived at Hallstatt we took an electric boat and sailed around the lake and were able to view this magnificent town from different angles. We also rode the cable car up the mountain and took a small trip in the area. The view from up above is breathtaking. Unfortunately, due to lack of time, we didn't manage to reach the salt mine. We also missed the Beinhaus and the Stadtmuseum.
Don't miss this pearl and don't hesitate to spend more time than we did.

This was an amazing place to visit. Unfortunately it was raining the day we went and once you get the ride up, you have to walk up a very steep walk quite a distance to the meeting point for the tour. The tour is well run and informative. The ride down the 60 metre slide is great fun. All in all I can't recommend this tour high enough. Money well spent.

We had the first tour of the morning. It was really detailed and amazing. The light and information shows in the mine were well done. The slides were fun. The views outside the mine were breathtaking. One came away having experienced a 7,000 year journey in one hour or so.

Hallstatt was a lovely town to visit. Try to stay overnight to enjoy the sunset and sunrise in the mountains and clouds. Worth the trip from Saltzburg.

The salt mines are famous. The experience is amazing. People have been working these mines for 7,000 years. Take the alpine hiking route across the front of the mountain to reach the mines. It's a beautiful hike with tiny museums set in the trail maintenance crews' huts.
