This review is based on one dinner experience. We ate outside and took advantage of the excellent view over the Hallstatt Lake. Having eaten so many fish dishes, we decided to try something else. Bad idea! The two schnitzels (turkey and pork) were so heavily breaded that both diners scraped them. The pork loin filet with pasta was a better choice, but even it was nothing special.

We went there to have a sweet bite and enjoy nice scenery of the lake, but soon a blast of windgusts moved us inside. We ordered Kaiserschmarr and Germknödel. Both stood up for the test, sweet and tasty.

Recommended.

The service wasn't great but the food was incredible! I had chicken wrapped in bacon with pasta and it was a generous portion. I ate every crumb. I had the apple cake which was very good but not as sweet as I like. My cousin had the dumpling with poppy seeds for dessert. It was unlike anything we had ever had and we really loved it.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch here today. The setting is right on the water, under colourful umbrellas and flowers. The service was very prompt, which we have found to be the exception in Austria. My sons had the potato soup, which was excellent, followed by bacon wrapped chicken which they also thought very good. My husband had schnitzel and I had roast pork. All meals were very good. Pricewise, it was in line with what we have come to expect in the area and a little less expensive than the nearby and slightly more upscale Gasthof Gruner and Heritage Hotel.

Great food, quick service and not crowded! We had a beautiful top in the garden area with a lake view. The area is down a side alley from the town market square and is easily missed by the large tourist crowds. The goulash, mixed salad, and pork medallions were excellent as was everything we ordered.
