Our two nights stay is really a superb. Everything is beyond expectation; the cosy room, the scene from our windows, the balcony to the fresh breeze, and all the meals. Will definitely would return to this place again.

We stayed in room 21 for 2 nights and I must say it's a nice place. The room is clean with chairs facing balcony, although without lake view. The bathroom is well maintained, too. It's no doubt the breakfast is fabulous with selection of breads, scrambled eggs, hams, sausage, and even pickled seafood. The location is around central region of lake shore street but not right besides the street. I would recommend this good valued hotel for travelers especially with short stay because some other famous guest houses seem to accept long stay in Hallstatt.

We had a wonderful 4-night stay in this hotel in Hallstatt. The room was lovely and incredibly clean with a balcony (which sadly, we did not use because it was too cold and rainy). There was a table with two chairs in the room as well as on the balcony - great for poor weather! The breakfast was fabulous - scrambled eggs, meats, great breads, a sweet cake of some sort, fruit salad, and more. We also had dinner there twice and found the prices and food to be good.

Some people have commented on the abruptness of the staff but we found the two parents friendly (the mother is a quiet but nice). The son is a bit straight-faced but very professional and accommodating. When we asked to leave a day early (the weather was miserable), he said it was no problem and didn't need our names, room number, or anything. We highly recommend this comfortable, recently renovated hotel.

Room Tip: There isn't an elevator, so if stairs are a problem, you may want to ask for a lower room.

We booked in the morning before leaving Vienna. We were lucky to be accommodated as it was a last minute decision to come for a two night stay in high season and the beginning of the Austrian School Holidays. Alexander kindly kept two rooms for us without a deposit or credit card guarantee. We were given a warm welcome on arrival with good instructions on the choice of parking in the town.

We were delighted by the quality, size and cleanliness of the rooms.

Breakfast was plentiful and offered a nice variety.

Just to note but not a complaint.:Our daughter tried unsuccessfully to use the Wellness Centre. It had two different saunas and a special shower but could not operate the facilities. Sadly the basic instructions were in German only and she could not find a staff member. English instructions would be helpful.

We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. It is great value for money and well located in the town.

Room Tip: Room 22 is VERY large and has a couch but no lake view but overlooks terrace houses and the mountain...

After much searching for somewhere to stay, this inn responded to my email, offering accommodation and breakfast at a reasonable price. They did not require my credit card to hold the booking, but said the reservation would lapse if I didnt turnup by 6 pm and ring ahead to advise I was running late. My room was on the third floor with a tiny glimpse of the lake. It was super spacious. Breakfast was various and delicious. I did not use the sauna. The wifi was free and strong. No cons really apart from a slight coldness in one of the female staff. Perhaps this was a reservedness or something. Also there was a very strongly worded sign saying that taking food away from breakfast was strictly forbidden. I had to laugh at the sterness of the sign. A 'please' would have been more gentle and got the view across. Being a german speaker I had no trouble with communicating with the staff. I also noticed some english was written on the menus and spoken. One of the staff Alexander was very courteous and helpful.

On arrival, the son came from the kitchen to book us in. He was very impersonal, just efficient. We had to fill in the visitors card immediately upon arrival, whereas at our hotel in St Wolfgang, we were given the forms and asked to return them before we left. After the drive, it would have been nice to settle in first before dealing with the paperwork. The only other member of staff with whom we dealt appeared to be the mother. She didn't crack a smile during the 3 days we were there. The room (14) was quite small, so there were no bedside cabinets, just a tall wardrobe each side of the bed, so there was nowhere to put anything needed overnight.
That's the not so good bits out of the way. Now the good bits. The breakfast was amazing. Every possible thing was there - even rollmop herrings and smoked salmon. Every morning it was a gorgeous spread. This also included bacon and scrambled eggs. So, go if only for the breakfast.
A word of warning though. Hallstatt is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Sadly, word has got out to Japan. Ten years ago, the only tourists were other Europeans. Now, the Europeans are outnumbered about four to one by coachloads of Japanese tourists who walk along with an umbrella in their left hand and a camera in their right hand. Every ten paces, they stop dead to take a photo of - nothing in particular. So you fall over them. They walk another ten paces and repeat the procedure. This becomes wearing after a while, so if you are allergic to Japanese tourists, you are probably not going to enjoy Hallstatt. It's a shame.

Room Tip: They advertise a lake view, but only one room has a lake view and that's not very good and it...

Stayed for one night in Hallstatt and arrive at about 10am. Our room wasn't ready but the owner, Alex, graciously told us we could leave our bags in a safe place and that our room would be ready at noon. This gave us time to visit the highly recommended mine and have lunch.

The room was excellent and had recently been updated. Had a view of the lake and smaller deck with table and chairs. Bathroom was modern and exceptionally clean.

Sauna was a real treat and quite easy to use. Never could figure out the steam shower in the sauna area.

Would highly recommend this place and an overnight stay in Hallstatt.
