We stayed in this pension several times during our journeys.
It is located in quiet street, has its own parking and offer very good price-value relation.
It is not breathtaking or amazing like the photos try show it, but the rooms are clean (however simple), staff is friendly and the breakfast is good.

We stayed as part of a 14 day cycling trip to Budapest, so this was 1/2 way. The family hosts were very friendly & helpful & the 4 course meal provided was tasty and substantial, drinks prices were modest. Room was very clean, and bed comfy. Special mention to Alexandra, who is very friendly, who along with her mum worked very hard to ensure our stay was a pleasure.

A friendly, homely, family-run guesthouse in pretty, historic Krems. It has been in the same family since 1795. Generally modern styling, with some older touches in the public areas. Very reasonably priced, the rooms/ensuites are clean and good sized, and the beds are comfortable. Even the rooms at the front are reasonably quiet. The breakfasts are excellent.
It is a comfortable walk to the old town and the station, and the contiguous old town of Stein is also within walking distance.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have views across part of the town to the substantial Gottweig monastery on the o...

This is a small family run hotel. It is a very clean, basic, no frills hotel. The location is very good. There are good restaurant options within a 5 to 10 minute walk.
The breakfast buffet was very good, with lots of fruits, meat, breads and cereal options. We stayed here for one night en route the Austrian Romantic road drive, and thought it was perfect for our purpose.

The Goldenen Engel is a very solid place to stay in Krems. The rooms are very large and very clean. They are very modern and lack some of the charm that one might hope for in a European vacation as they had a bit of a college dorm feel to them. The facilities were great. The pool was an excellent way to refresh after a long day of checking out castles and churches. The breakfast was also excellent with a large selection of breads, cheeses, meats, fruit, yogurt, and sweets. After a week of horrible coffee in the Czech Republic, it was also nice to go somewhere that people actually know how to brew a real cup of coffee (we're from the Seattle area where coffee is almost a religion).

The one knock that I would give to the hotel is that it's not nearly as rural as the pictures make it out to be. Krems is much larger than I expected and the hotel is right in the thick of it. If you're looking for a rural hotel in a small village surrounded by vineyards, head one town down to Durnstein. If you're looking for a nice, clean hotel with a great breakfast and a pool that has easy access to the Wachau, this is a great place to stay.

This hotel is located just to the east of the Old Town and easily accessible from the main road through Krems. Free parking is available on the street outside.
We were impressed by the very friendly and helpful family staff and the laid back atmosphere. Our room on the second floor had a very contemporary decor, a large comfortable bed and well-appointed bathroom, including a footstool for the oldies. There was a remarkably luxurious buffet breakfast, with a table groaning with fresh fruit, meats and cheeses, and excellent coffee. No evening meals were provided but there are two good restaurants within five minutes' walk.
We intend to return for a longer stay to enjoy our comforts and visit what looks like a very interesting Old Town, not to mention the vineywards!
