We had dinner last night at Sanger Blondel. It was a beautiful summer's evening, so we ate on the terrace amongst the flowers and plants and with a fantastic view of the church tower. The meal was excellent. Each of the four of us had something different and we were all very pleased. I sampled three glasses of local white wine. The service was very attentive, and even though the waiter didn't speak too much English (or he enjoyed hearing our broken German too much to let on that he spoke English), we understood each other very well. It helped to have English menus.
The one thing to keep in mind are the opening hours:
Tuesday 14:30 - 22:00 (but the kitchen closes at 20:00)
Wednesday to Friday 11:30 - 22:00 (but the kitchen closes at 20:00)
Saturday 11:30 - 16:00 (but the kitchen closes at 15:30)
closed on Sundays and Mondays
It seems a bit limited, even for Dürnstein, which seems to die in the late afternoon when the bulk of the tourists leave.
The restaurant is certainly not cheap, but it is slightly less expensive than the neighboring restaurant with the incredible view over the Danube.
