“Spacious apartment off the beaten track.”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

Found this apartment on LateRooms, not the cheapest, but had good reviews.

Located 10Km from Paphos Airport. Really need a hire car to get around, although there are local restaurants and a shop in the village only a short walk away.

The Apartment was a one double bedroom in Block D, Room 205. On first inspection, the room was located on the second floor, no lifts to help with luggage. The apartment was clean and had all the mod cons. There was even washing up liquid and drying towel. A good size fridge and freezer. Kettle and microwave, kettle and toaster. All plugs were U.K and adapter plugs were available for local produced items. There was a table and 4 chairs to dine at, although a little difficult to get to as it was pushed up against the kitchen island and behind one of the Sofa's. the lounge area was good, 2 x 2 leather Sofa's with a coffee table and T.V. The air con worked very well also. There was also a patio area with a round table and 4 chairs. The view somewhat disappointing over looking the local football pitch and a local junk yard. The one double bedroom, very well equipped and the bathroom with shower. Only the shower curtain hanging by a thread let the appearance down.

The facilities on site we good. The pool lovely, although slightly spoilt by a lot of noisy children. Not a place to go for peace and quite. We also used the gym. Good equipment. There is a Spa with treatments available. The resort is let down by not having water available at the gym or generally.
The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The resort is spotless and very tidy. But there were many tiles missing in the pool.

We enjoyed our stay but was not as restful as might have been with the riot of children. There are rules about the pool usage which sound great but totally unpoliced and ignored.

When I booked my holiday in Cyprus, I wanted to stay near Paphos but not in the town centre. Mandria is quite a bit of a distance from Paphos but we had a hired car, which I highly recommend, so this was not a problem for us.

The self catering apartment was good value for money at the time we traveled (April 2012). I liked the pool area which was lovely, with lots of sun loungers and space. Our one bedroom apartment had a bathroom with a bath tub, a lovely bedroom with a large bed, a kitchen area as well as a dining table and a small lounge with TV. We were able to park our car right outside our apartment

The location of the apartment complex was within walking distance to Mandria centre which was very handy. There is a small selection of restaurants but there are also lots of lovely taverns in surrounding villages.

I can definitely recommend this place if you travel off season (not sure what it's like in high season).

Just returned back to UK from Cyprus.

Aphrodite Sands Resort is a stunning and beautifully tranquil resort with excellent facilities. Ideally located, just a short journey from Paphos International Airport, Paphos City Centre, Aphrodite Rock and Coral Bay.

The accommodation was fantastic with fully equipped apartments and pools. The Spa underneath the pool is fantastic with wonderful treatments at a reasonable price.

Mandria is a decent sized village with some tavernas and bars. Just enough to give you a true taste of Cyprus. I can't speak highly enough about this resort, would certainly recommend this resort as its the best I've visited in all my travels.

Just returned from a wonderful week in Aphrodite Sands Resort. We booked through Travel Republic and had no problems, but would try and book independently next time as could be slightly cheaper. The apartments, pool, grounds and staff are all first class with everything just 5*. Unfortunately, never managed to make it to the spa but have heard great reviews. The apartments are within 5 minutes walk to the centre of Mandria which has good restaurants, good shop, good bus connections and taxi service. The complex is also only a 10 minute drive from Paphos Airport which is said to cost around 18 euros. We hired a car from the airport from Avis and were forced to pay for a full tank of petrol to start with we then ended up taking the car back with over half a tank still left in it. I would hire definately hire a car from the complex office in future as you can hire for a minimum of 3 days alot cheaper and put petrol is as and when you need to. Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday and are looking forward to booking for next year.

Room Tip: Apartment D101 is on the second floor overlooking the largest pool.

Our excellent experience started right here on trip advisor.

Our airline wanted a stupid amount of money for transfers to and from the airport. I contacted the resort through trip advisor and asked them to recommend a taxi company or a decent price for a taxi to the resort. Jade contacted me advising that she could arrange a taxi for 18 euro and the driver would meet us at the airport. Sure enough, our driver met us at arrivals and took us to a lovely big Merc direct to the resort, perfect!

The resort is cracking! We had traveled to Cyprus for a wedding in Paphos so deliberately wanted somewhere out of town to enjoy some "down time". I'll agree there is little to nothing to do at the resort itself but it doesn't advertise itself as a entertainment destination. Mandria is nice, a short walk to some pubs, places to eat and a wee shop to stock up on supplies. There is a larger shop a little further out of Mandria, and the reception staff are more than willing to point you in the right direction.

We found all the staff on the complex exceptionally helpful and willing to assist and provide guidance to our questions, there was a few as this was our first visit to Cyprus!

We took the last bus into Paphos one night which was only a euro each (they keep changing the bus times so just check!) and took the card for the taxi company who collected us at the airport. We did this on 2 nights ( €20 & €22)

The beach, a 20 minute walk from the apartment, is pebbles and is not developed. We walked along it for about a mile and passed 3 people. It was clean, as was the sea.

Room service I have marked as average simply because it is not offered, hence neutral!

If your a couple, happy in your own company, a confident traveler, who likes to explore and go looking for things to do, rather than have "poolside entertainment" ; then head for Aphrodite Sands, it's relaxed, chilled and pretty much on the money!

Room Tip: We really liked having the poolside terrace on the ground floor, lets you walk right out onto the po...

Aphrodite Sands is part of the sleepy village of Mandria, just a 15/20 minute drive from central Paphos and 10/15 mins to the airport. The complex is not easy to find at night due to the fact that it is simply a collection of well appointed apartments but poorly signed. The apartment was stunning, spotless, had everything you could need (cooker, microwave, washing machine, fridge/freezer) and a lovely patio.
The tv was not really satellite tv, it had 1 English speaking channel and 3 days out of 11 Channel 4 or 5 popped up. That was it. The area also is terrible for mobile phone 3G coverage and a 30 euro fee had to be paid for Wireless.
The "resort" has 2 lovely pools, plenty of loungers, a gym and spa. However, that was it, No bar, no restaurants, no nightlife, no vending machines. If you wanted any kind of entertainment then Mandria offered limited night life. 3 restaurants, 2 bars and a shop.
If you want more than this then a hire car is essential. Paphos is 15/20 minutes away, Limassol was 45 mins (although very run down).
This place is ideal if you want no noise but if you prefer to have a choice probably not ideal. People with young children would need to provide their own entertainment.
Mandria beach is a dump - a good 20 minute walk and muddy sand and nothing else. Paphos is far better and a lovely town.
If we could have taken the resort and put it a 10 minute walk away from Paphos beach then it would have been perfect.
Whilst it was nice and quiet, we prefer to have a choice of evening entertainment.
If they provide a bar/cafe/restaurant and Mandria has just a couple more bars to chosse from then we will be back.
When all is said and done, the apartment and pools were great value for money.

This place is perfect for families (and couples) who want to get away from the noisy, crowded resort experience. The apartments are set around two pools, one suited to children of all ages and the other meant for adults. The gardens are well kept and there are views of the sea in the distance. There is a fine gym, but since the A/C is turned off when not in use, it was too hot to work out for long. Our apartment was modern, clean, and well-equipped, including a washing machine. The large patios allow for privacy when dining. RENTING A CAR IS RECOMMENDED but rentals are inexpensive and easily arranged (incl. car seats). We walked to the (pebble) beach once and also tried the bus to Pafos, but in 35+ weather having a car made these trips much more pleasant. Mandria is in the midst of a transition from agriculture to tourism so is quite undeveloped… you’ll walk past rusting farm vehicles into town. That said there are a handful of restaurants and a well-stocked kiosk. Owners/staff at these are very friendly. The beach is deserted; supervised, sandy beaches are a short drive away. Bring your own beach towels and be prepared to pay per device for Wifi. TIP: You can rent directly from Waterside. You can also pay for a half-day if you have a late flight and the room is available.

Room Tip: We chose a second floor room so the children couldn't run out to the pool on their own.
