A great area a little north of the hustle and bustle of the casino district. Beautiful turquoise water, with a net to filter out the big fish. Pebbles were actually very comfy to pile as pillow... much better than the rocks of Nice! Quite a large public area.

Should have gone to a real beach! This is a man-made beach made out of small pea-stone gravel in my opinion. A beach for me has real sand!! The water was also not very clean. I did not see any change rooms, so used the washrooms which was inconvenient. I expected a lot better from a public beach area in Monte Carlo. The shops were over-priced too. I would look for another area if you want to go swimming and stroll along a sand beach.

Having lived in Monaco for eleven years now - I am a frequent visitor to Larvotto Beach. My favourite restaurant on the beach is the Miami Plage. Most of them are under a large covered roof and some are situated on the beach itself offering necessary shade under sun umbrellas. The menu and service I feel is the best on this beach. This restaurant and others offer sunbed loungers with side tables and umberellas to rent, also towels, changing areas and shower facilities. Beach drinks and snack services are also provided. Among the restaurants private beach areas is also a public beach and good parking facilities next to the beach - although in July/August it is difficult to always ensure availability in fact during these months parking anywhere in Monaco can prove difficult. Apart from beach restaurants the beach sites a number of small shops selling beachwear, souvenirs, ice creams, sweets etc. Beware this is a man made beach and is not white sand - it is made of very small stones but is not uncomfortable to walk on - the ocean comes right up close to the sun beds so there is not a long distance to plunge into the water to cool off when the sun is strong. The ocean very quickly drops to a depth of a few feet and it is usually extremely calm and very safe to swim -

In summer Larvotto is a place to avoid - crowded and very busy but outside of July/August it is a great place to sit and relax - try the Notte Bleu - great jazz cafe/bar where the Mozzarella is fab

Larvotto Beach is a terrific beach, though if you can afford it, rent a day bed along the water attached to one of several restaurants, which will serve you from their menus at the tables placed between the chairs. It's a great beach.. the sand is more pebble-like than fine grain, so it's easy to wipe off and won't stay stuck in your swim suits. There is a fish net type thing stretched across the edge of the small bay, to prevent any large fish from getting into the swimming area along the shore. Makes swimming in the Mediterranean very pleasant! No big waves either, so it's a great family beach, too. FYI.. many women sunbathe topless in Monte Carlo. Just sayin'..
