The Ambassador hotel Monaco Is located 50 metres from the Fontvieille Train station, ideal if coming in from Nice by train, having landed by plane.

Less than 5 minutes walk down towards the main Port, going straight ahead from the front door will lead you to the smaller port. At the base of the steps up to Monaco and the Palace.
Turn left coming out of the hotel and on the corner to your right is a Brasserie, serving food all day and night 24/7, 7 days a week.

The check in was quick. The hotels reception, bar and restaurant are decorated very modern. We found the hotel to be clean and all staff to be very helpful and friendly. Very handy for bus stops to take you in to Nice, Cannes, Airport.

Our room was at the front of the hotel 36, with small double doors opening on to a typical small French balcony. A wonderful place to people watch.
Breakfast was a basic continental and we really liked the hotel.

If coming in from Nice Airport.
At the airport get bus tickets from the bus terminal, just outside the airport doors. Costing €3 each (I think!), you will need the 99 bus at stand 4, this will take you to Nice train station. Here you can go to the information desk and get return tickets from Nice to Monte Carlo train station (€7 return per adult). It is worth a train journey on a double decker train, and a lovely 20 minute coastal ride. As previously mentioned Monaco Train station does have various levels to get in from. We did get off at the wrong exit, but did find our hotel pretty quickly. To get off at the right exit you need to look for exit Fontvieille.

Alternatively catch the 99 bus from the airport to the train station, then catch the 100 bus, which also takes the coastal route, which is beautifully stunning (€1.50 per adult one way, alternatively it is €10 for 10 trips) that takes you to Monte Carlo, and a stop by the hotel less than 2 minutes walk away, the ride can take up to 40 minutes.

100 bus takes you from Nice to Monte Carlo and reverse. This a great way later in your stay to stop at some of the wonderful French villages and ports along the way, including Eze Village.
You can catch the Train from Monte Carlo and head to Cannes for the day about 1 hour 20 minutes.

There is a tour bus in Monte Carlo which takes you up to the palace in Monaco and around a good chunk of Monte Carlo, great way to get your bearings (18 € for all day hop on hop off per adult).

There is an electric boat for 2 € takes you from left to right across the Main Port Hercule.

Monte Carlo Casino is a must see and can be walked to easily, 10-15 minutes. In the same square is 'café De Paris' and 'Hotel De Paris'. Sit and watch the rich and famous go by. Hear the engines roar and the most beautiful cars pass you by. Here you can also look in to the windows of all the designer shops - Chanel, Louis Viton.

Monaco le grand Tour

Hop on hop off tourist bus
A great way to see a little bit more of Monaco and Monte Carlo, hoping on and off allows you freedom to walk and enjoy the best parts. Taking you up to the Palace of Monaco, you can enjoy lunch here and then catch a later bus. Stop at Casino Square or at the Hercule harbour (main port of Monte Carlo). €18 for an adult, but worth it to rest your feet for a little while and enjoy the view.

Monte Carlo Harbour- Port Hercule

How the other half live
Amazing, walking around the harbour and enjoying the luxurious yachts, only money can buy. A really lovely place to spend time looking at all the money sitting on the water. Even if the chance of boarding one is probably no, they are stunning and worth admiring, Lots of places to eat and drink outside along the way, why not start at pole position where the Formula One starts every year.

Larvotto Beach

Lovely place.
We went November, so it was a little cooler, we would love to see it in the summer when the sun is red hot. A lovely place that you can walk along in the winter. Enjoying a sit down in one of the many restaurants and bars, enjoying a glass of wine, a beer or something to eat.

Stars and bars

Found this place on our first night. Located to the right of Monte Carlo's main Port - Port Hercule, with 3 levels, the bottom housing a large bar, where you can sit around if you wish, we did, all 3 nights. Happy hour for half price drinks from 5:00-7:30pm. Staff friendly and attentive. Really good atmosphere. Food beautiful, hot and tasty. Drinks cold and served quickly. Bar men often showing some tricks which was entertaining. Outside you can enjoy a drink under heaters if it is a bit cool.

Tony's restaurant - Monaco
A great little place in Monaco. We ate at lunch time, food was fantastic, reasonable along with having quick and good service.

Japanese gardens
Gorgeous little oasis
Lovely Japanese gardens, a tranquil and very well maintained area. With lovely trees, bridges and fish in the pond. Definitely worth a visit.

Cafè de Paris
WOW watching the rich and famous pass you by
Because it was November it was easy to get a seat outside under the lovely warm heaters. Prices are high but.... a lovely part of enjoying Monte Carlo, from here you can watch the rich pass you by in their designer clothes, hear the roar of the most beautiful cars. Enjoy a drink or something to eat. I enjoyed a half bottle of Rosè at a very reasonable €35, a large beer was €15. Expensive, but what an experience.

Opera
wow and that is from the outside
We did not experience the inside of this magnificent building. But if the inside is anything like the outside, it is quite simply stunning, the architecture is unbelievable.

Le Note Bleue
Great place to chill and enjoy a nice cold drink
Ideally located on the beach. This lovely restaurant / bar is decorated with white seating and a raised terrace. A very comfortable place to have a drink. We went late morning when it was quiet. Drinks aren't cheap, but a lovely place to people watch. Would have been nice to come back later or at night to see how the place comes alive.

NICE
We only seen a small part of Nice, due to time. We did go on the local tourist train (Petit train to Chateaux Baie Des) which takes you to the top where Chateaux Baie is, then walk down, don't forget to catch the waterfall, before you descend.
The market is lovely as is the old town, to wander around, to eat have a drink a beautiful atmosphere. If we felt lost, we really found everyone very helpful. There is a lovely new park in the centre on Nice, which is definitely worth visiting, lots of children's playground equipment, sculptures and places to sit and have a picnic.

Ark restaurant/bar - Nice

After a wander through the old town and its food market. This was a fantastic restaurant / bar to stop, sit in the sun, enjoy a cold glass of wine and some tapas. Overlooking the Mediterranean to the far left of Nice, and minutes from the Old Town. We sat on the first level, people watching along the Promenade. Watching roller blader's, runners, cyclist and people just enjoying the view and the atmosphere.

I recommend this place !

For Monaco, this hotel is still very reasonably priced, central and practical. Nice welcome by the management, thoroughly clean rooms, dining room and access, but in Monaco everything is so ! This is an old building completely renovated. The decoration is net and they added historical pictures and memories from the past Formula 1 races, which is interesting. The rooms are just big enough and the bath rooms are bright.
There was some early (07:30) noise due to the buildings construction going on around, but still it remained decent.
The restaurant downstairs presented a nice buffet or a la carte breakfast and they serve as well lunch and diner, Italian food and pizzas that are delicious.

Reasonable price (particularly for Monaco!). Very friendly English speaking staff. Clean comfortable rooms. Great location. Parking close by (18 euros/day). Pretty average breakfast but it was included in the price of the room. Moise insulation between rooms is rubbish. I could hear the guy next door snoring!!. Also, street noise was a factor as my room looked out onto the road. All in, not the best place I've ever stayed, but not the worst either.

For the money and remembering where you are in the world... This has to be the best value hotel in Monaco. On arrival the staff were very helpful. I was a bit nervous as this was my first time abroad with my wife - ever! The hotel staff really couldn't do enough for us. Our room was big enough, very clean and had 2 balconies. It cost me about £135 per-night, per-room - and including breakfast. They even gave us 10% off our evening meal - which was a free voucher you could request via their website; upon booking. Overall a lovely place watching Monaco buzz around below you. Great restaurant at the hotel (P&P) - gorgeous Italian cuisine. 9 out of 10.

spent a night in this hotel, booked before reading the reviews which didn't seem too good, so arriving at the hotel expected to find Basil Fawlty at the reception for those British out there who remember the series of the hotel owner at Fawlty Towers but no found the hotel staff OK, the rooms clean and continental breakfast OK, hotel well situated not far from the Palace, I think after all the bad reviews the message has got through and they have made the necessary changes! recommend the bar, restaurant on the corner opposite the hotel my husband and I go there often as we live in Nice! Staff very friendly, good food, reasonable prices!
