It is a pleasure to read you have enjoy our central location and our friendly colleagues service. I have shared your experience with my team and we are all very proud to have exceeded your expectations. We consider your comments to be our greatest reward.
We spent one night at the Fairmont, everything was good, no queues etc Booked a room without a sea view which proved lucky as the sea view only looks over the sea (obviously) and not Monto Carlo itself. plus there was a large dredger directly outside. Perhaps the hotel should advise guests beforehand if their room overlooks that. The valet car parking was good, we took the car out a couple of times, no hassle (for the price a clean would have been good!). Nikki beach bar on the roof was an oasis in the middle of busy monto carlo. Full of people posing but nice anyway. All the staff we interacted with were very professional and made us feel welcome. The location is great for the casino and the centre of monte carlo itself. I would stay there again.

My wife and I stayed for the 4th time in Fairmont Monte-Carlo, from 13-16th of August 2017, in a Deluxe Room Sea View. Upon arrival with a private limousine transfer, it was such rush and mess in front of the Hotel, that nobody came neither to help us nor to welcome us... We took then our big luggages and went down to the Fairmont President Club Check-in Desk. There, we waited behind a woman who was occupying the desk, not less than 15-20 minutes, it was actually so long that we moved to another queue, which was long and never finishing it seems ! We understood at that time that Hotel was quite full and that there were several complains from clients which took time to be solved, unfortunately we understood why only on the next morning...
Next day, starting from 06:00-06:30 am, we were woken up by heavy noises of stones falling into a metallic huge boat, by a heavy pneumatic yellow shovel, which was taking the stones and sands from the bottom of the sea and putting them inside the boat, which was located just in front of our balcony, unbelievable !!! The view was not existing anymore, as we could only see those big boat and shovel, moving just under our nose, it was evident that those conditions could not be accepted, specially at the rate we paid for and for a relaxing holiday stay. We complained immediately at the reception asking for a new room in a quiet location, even if with a garden view, with proportional cost reduction. By chance, after breakfast, we were offered 2 options : 1 Deluxe Room Sea View on the other side of the works or a Deluxe Room Garden View, at same price. We took Sea View and were happy to be able to sleep normally again... Situation was very bad, but Hotel staff found out a solution and accepted our requested to be refunded by 20% for our catastrophic first night.
We came last time before the Nikki Beach concept was existing and I should say that it was much better before !!! Now, it is noisy, there is less and less space available next to your sun bed, you are almost stucked to your neighbour. Sun beds are on first arrived first served basis, meaning that if you don't pay 35 euros by booking your sun bed, then you may have no sunbed at all, even if you are client of the Hotel... People not being client of the Hotel can now come, drink, make noise, smoke cigars, well it became a party pool and not anymore a relaxing pool. We do not accept this new concept of business pool only, never again for us !
We ordered food via room service, my wife had the worst Caesars salad ever in her life, not tasty, almost no chicken inside, a real joke, quality dropped in too many different locations of the Hotel to get clients happy and satisfied.
So, to resume our stay :
Positive points :
1) Reception reactivity and Management support after our complain due to heavy work and noise under our balcony (room changed and 20% discount of the 1st night cost).
2) Nobu restaurant inside Fairmont Monte-Carlo is a very good and high class one, but with view facing the works on the sea and a lot of noise when full.
3) Transfer organised by portier from Fairmont Monte-Carlo to Hôtel de Paris, easily done and efficiently, at no extra cost.
Points to be aware of :
1) Fairmont Hotel is getting old and rooms need urgent renovations, for example, electrical outlet was falling down, smell in room 6054 was awful.
2) 15-20 minutes queue at Check-in, nobody to welcome us or to help us with our luggages after our arrival by limousine in front of the Hotel.
3) Heavy works on the sea, just in front of the Sea View Rooms, going to be like this for 10 years, more or less !!!
4) Noisy and fully booked outdoor pool due to Nikki Beach concept. Now anyone can access the pool area by paying and booking a sun bed, it became a factory for tourists !
5) No water, no bottle of wine, no bottle of champagne, no personalized items, nothing to welcome a 4 times repeater client, big disappointement ! A total loss of personalized service...
6) Prices at Nikki Beach are over expensive, not willing to order anything at such rate with such crowd and noise.
Well, that's it ! After Fairmont Hotel, we left for Hôtel de Paris, being upgraded in an Exclusive Suite with Sea View, a totally different world opened to us. We will not come back to Fairmont Monte-Carlo. As for Monaco, many things downgraded due to an increasing number of tourists, of clients, of works in process and noise everywhere, a big shame for such a beautiful place.
I will soon post some photos for you to see what I'm talking about, you will understand very fast why I'm complaining, imagine to be there and to get this...
Enjoy and good luck if travelling to Monaco during those next 10 years, it will be a lot of disturbances.
I can't think of a better word for this place!! As soon as you get to your room there is a huge dredging barge in front of your room. There is no escaping this, however if you would like to walk 100 rooms down a narrow hall way to room x130 have at it. When I mean its a hike, its a hike.
If you enjoy hearing heart pounding music till 4:30 in the morning in your room from the Nikki beach pool party even on a Tuesday this is the place for you. I even put ear plugs in and its still so loud in your room. Even if this is not bad enough if you are on the top 6th floor prepare also for table and chairs moving all night long. You will get a break for about 2 hours but it starts back up after 5:30am.
I tried to change rooms several times and I did manage to get a room on the 5th floor but very far down the hall. Good luck if you go hear. Trust me in this write up, I do travel to the best places!
Queue for valet parking. Queue to check-in. Was almost like being back in England! Chose to upgrade room to sea view. After fighting with the lift for a while I ended up back at reception to get the room cards re-coded. Meal at rooftop restaurant was really good with excellent service and decent wines, breakfast was also really good. Foyer bar was shameful for a hotel operating at this price level: Wait to be told where to sit (80% empty anyway)...wait to order drinks....Remember I'm English so used to the whole queuing/waiting thing....and wait and wait for the drinks to arrive despite them sitting on the bar waiting for a waiter (Irony unintentional, honestly!). After boredom set in I collected the drinks myself and was chastised by the waiting waiter. Needless to say, I ensured no service charge was paid. Queue for check-out, queue for valet collection but I'm English...
The room was actually rather nice with good views over the marina and med. So it's a mixed bag. All issues were service related so could be fixed quickly.
Received upgrade upon arrival only to find out later room was next to club next door. View from room and size of room was stunning. However, bass music thumping past 1am. Bathroom counter was also unclean and construction noise was prevalent. Finally, service was generally good, but very poor from gym attendant who told me "to be done by 10pm (when the gym closes) because the doors close and lock." Really? Locked into the gym at a luxury hotel? So disappointing, especially as Premier FPC member.
