Stayed three days end of August prior to boarding cruise. Location of hotel great...within walking distance to Grand Casino, shops, beach. Hotels has great sea views. Pool on the rooftop, great views. Collette at concierge was extremely helpful in providing info and calling Le Grill at Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo to ensure we had a great table.

The room was average. I was disappointed with the terrace...the garden view was fine but the lounge chair cover was dirty...patio chair had no cushions. The was no power plug adapter for US devices(cell phones/laptop)...I had to leave my iphone with the desk to charge until I was finally given a converter(on the house). On the second day there was a 10-15 minute downpour of rain which left the hotel lobby was flooded...towels everywhere...find it hard to believe there has never been hard rain before in Monte Carlo and this would happen.

Not sure if I would stay at Fairmount again.

Dear Madam, Dear Sir,

We would like to thank you for sharing your comments following your stay at the Fairmont Monte Carlo. We have taken notes and shared it with all departments concerned. Some of the experiences that you’ve described do not reflect the image and the service we want to deliver to our guests and we apologize for this.

You have mentionned heavy rain in your comment, and they were indeed very unusual in their intensity, cauisng the damages you witnessed. While we are very sorry for the inconvenience this this may have caused, I would like to specify that the service of the hotel did not stop and was delivered with the appropriate standards in all outlets and departments. Towels and diversion were in place in order to avoid further aggravtaion and accident to guests and colleagues.

One more time, thank you for sharing your thoughts and I hope that you will reconsider us again on your next travel.

Yours sincerely,

Louis Starck,
Hotel Manager

Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of August 2012, we did upgrade on arrival for a (small premium) to sea-view room on the 5th floor, and glad we did when we saw the position of the garden view rooms.
Our room was lovely, overlooking the marina entrance and the bay of Monaco.
Room absolutely adequate for 4 star, and the location, just below casino square (2 mins walking) perfect, if you take the walkway from the 7th floor.
We dined first night at L'horizon, beautiful restaurant and views, very, very helpful Maitre'D, managed to secure a table for us at short notice, and the entire staff were extremely polite and attentive.
The food excellent.
Evenings spent in Cafe du Paris, yes expensive, but you are in Monte Carlo, and nightcap at the Billionaires Club, floor 7, at the Fairmont, al fresco evening, good service, nice music and atmoshpere, does not really get much better!!

I could not fault anything at this hotel and will be back.

Room Tip: always try for sea-view if possible

Return stay, a year later, and perhaps even lovelier than the first time.
Great sea-view room this time, only a few steps from the elevators (this does have a certain importance in a hotel that boasts over 6 kms of hallways!!!)
Rooms are rather large by European standards, and very pleasantly decorated.
Almost anywhere else, this would be considered a five star hotel, but competition in Monaco is rough, with three "palace" hotels in the immediate Monte Carlo area.
Very professional, courteous and smiling staff, attentive to details.
Beautiful roof-top pool, with mountains on one side and the sea with its ever-changing multi-million buck yachts and cruise ships on the other.
On the down side, beware of sticker shock (this is of course true of Monaco overall). A very basic breakfast of coffee, juice and bakery basket will cost you EUR 27 p/person...
And almost all the "love seats" by the pool now sport little "reserved" signs (Eur 50 for half day, Eur 90 for full day quand même!!!) and of course mostly sit empty. A very classless move from an otherwise very classy hotel.
All in all however, another lovely stay on the Rock!
And will be back next year.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms and proximity to elevators

Dear Madam, Dear Sir

I would like to thank you for taking the time to express your opinion about the Fairmont Monte-Carlo on Tripadvisor. I am very pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us.
The "love seats" you are talking about in your comment are indeed available throughout the day and charged to our guests. the price include refreshment, your choice of magazine and newspaper and food amenity twice a day. While we offer the possibility to reserve the "classic" sunbeds for half day or full day rate, they are available and free of charge according to availability.
We are looking forward to welcoming you back to the Fairmont Monte-Carlo again next time you stay in the Principality.

Sincerely yours,

My husband and I ended off our honeymoon in Monte Carlo and stayed at the Fairmont. Completely worth it. What a luxurious experience. The room was wonderful--stayed in a room overlooking the sea and the yachts. Amazing to wake up to that. The restaurant was wonderful.
Service was wondeful. Food was delicious. The pool on top of the hotel is amazing. Gorgeous during the day time and overlooks the city and the Sea. During the night, it transforms into a lounge with music--great experience. Our stay at the hotel was a perfect end to our honeymoon. Thank you!

Room Tip: Sea (yacht) view rooms are wonderful, quiet and lovely to wake up in.

I stayed at the Fairmont Monte Carlo during my "Around the World in 90 Days" trip (check out my blog: "www.toscanoworldtrip.blogspot.com"). It is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful place. The hotel has the best view in Monaco as it is directly over the water and the view of the Mediterranean is stunning. The hotel is very expensive as is everything else in Monte Carlo, but if you want a once in a lifetime experience in Monaco, this is the place to stay. The breakfast buffet is fabulous (food and view) as is the rooftop pool and the Concierge team is great, the best being Melania Milbert. Monaco is very easy to get around since it is very small. The only drawback (which seems quite odd as Monte Carlo is one of the most expensive places in the world) is that the hotel has no wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby and it is extremely slow. But who wants to be on their computer anyway (that's what we do at home) when Monaco and the French Riviera (with all of their natural beauty) are waiting to be explored.

If you want to be treated like you are a derelict and gambling at an amateur casino, then please visit the Sun Casino at the Fairmont. My husband and I (who have gambled numerous times in Vegas, AC, Austria, and other European countries) visited the Fairmont because of its reputation of offering American style gambling, especially on the craps table. We approached the one craps table that was open and immediately bought in, only to find out that odds are only 1x at the Fairmont (when odds in America are 5x).

Ordering drinks became a chore when the waiter discovered we were American and literally asked the pit boss "if he was called over to serve this [referring to us with a disgusted face]."

THEN, the couple from the UK, who we were teaching to play craps, was cheated, plain as day, by one of the dealers -> UK guy plays pass after point, Dealer: "bet does not count", Roller: 7, Dealer: collects UK guys bet (that allegedly does not count). CHEAT. called out, makes excuse in half french. Who can gamble with cheaters?

Finally, as I was waiting for my taxi, I finished my drink (a glass of wine) and I informed the receptionist that I was finished with my drink, but did not want to leave it in the open and was inquiring as to where I should place it. His response - "this is not a bar." Thank you, Sherlock. However, I would have appreciated some assistance as to where to place an empty glass of wine on my way out of the hotel.

Point of this: if you want to go to a place where you are not appreciated and you feel like you are doing them a favor by gambling at their establishment, then visit the Fairmont.

This hotel is fabulous and will surpass all your expectations. We had a view of the famous hairpin bend from the Grand Prix. The rooms are huge and very well decorated. The view from breakfast is as spectacular as the food, you won't get a better breakfast anywhere. The pool overlooking the city and Mediteranian is another highlight. Beware do not empty the mini-bar or have alcohol bottles in your bin, hefty charges apply. Very central to everything and a 2 minute work to the famous Old Casino. You will love the cars, in Monaco the preferred mode of transport is a Ferrari or Bentley. The best hotel I have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: As ocean view rooms are probably dearer, ask for a view of the road in front, otherwise you look int...
