“Blissful dining on the seashore in Monte Carlo, Monaco”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2012

For me, French food is always wonderful. Many travellers to Monte Carlo will tell you that food is very expensive. So it is difficult to feel wonderful, dining in Monte Carlo, when you are not one of the super rich that goes there.

Needless to say, dining in hotels is a luxury which an average tourist can ill-afford.

Luckily for us, a local Frenchman told us about Le Baobab.

We were very surprised on how good this place is and how inexpensive everything was.

Food is excellent, not fantastic. Menu is limited and there is a daily board of interesting dishes. Amount is reasonable not over the top.

When you consider the ambience, dining on an esplanade, looking out to the beach, smelling the sea, feeling the breeze, listening to music from one of a handful of restaurants nearby, watching some people play and picnic on the beach below, and you are drinking a carafe of wine for less than EUR 15, instead of for the same amount for a glass in a hotel, what can you complain about?

Service is good not rapid but hey, you are here to relax and enjoy the surroundings, not to do things like an express train.

They even have wi-fi - so when by myself, I could surf the net, catch up with the news.

Better still, they would let me practice my French!

Even getting there, walking is along the esplanade or Av. Princesse Grace, is very enjoyable.
