very much value for money and enjoyed the tour complete with hand held audio guide. Well worth the entrance fee but disappointed the car collection museum is not here but located down the hill in the city.

Loved this square with its beautiful buildings including the palace. Lovely viewing platform across the city , France and Italy .
Plenty of room for the visitors and food and gift shops too.

A downer for us is that photography is not permitted. The rooms are so elegant and impressive, it takes more than a tour to digest it all. The sumptuous fabrics on the walls and ornately detailed furnishings are in the style of Louis the XIV and XV. Chandeliers and mirrors create a true illusion of royalty.

The stark unimpressive exterior conceals the grandeur that is inside. Outside, the guards stand in their station boxes and there are stacked cannon balls and cannons around the perimeter of the Palace. The Palace is high on the Monaco Rock and abuts the small section called Vieux Monaco (Old Town); there are maybe 3 streets around the Palace where these old buildings filled with shops and restaurants are found. They appear to date to between the 1700 and 1800's.

The palace has an intricate 13th century styled Carrera marble staircase, similar to the one at the Chateau Fontainebleau. In the York Room, there is a mosaic table upon which official documents are signed. Next to the York bedroom and document signing room is the Yellow Room; it is a bedroom in the style of Louis XV.

Lots to see here, take good notes!

We visited the area and visited the Prince’s Palace. We tried to go inside but apparently you can only see the exterior. I should have figured that when we saw the palace guards. It’s a decent looking building but thought it would be more ornate for being such a rich country. In any case, the views off to the side are incredible.

There are many views here at many different angles. A single subject can be photographed at multi-angles and you will still have great picture.s Also ready your camera for the Changing of the Guard. Videos or photos will capture the moments well.

Welcome yourself to a self-guided tour inside. Visit the souvenir shops on the grounds. You won't have trouble finding many places to grab a bite to eat. You can eat on the go, by walking up to a food stand or you can have a sit-down fare at an outdoor restaurant. Shopping on the narrow streets near Place du Palais is fun.

This is the main square in Old Monaco. It was loaded with people when we went but it was still a nice stop.

This large courtyard, basically, is situated in front of the Prince's Palace. It has great views over the harbour and much of Monaco. Great photo ops.

There are a number of interesting buildings nearby and three narrow streets running off the square. Well worth exploring.

You will see the guards plus there are other people watching opportunities as well.

A nice spot to visit with a number of shady areas off to one side. Useful in the hot weather we experienced.

The view alone is worth the visit. Monaco is a Warren of buildings built on a mountain with hardly a straight road in sight. Here you see the old town, the palace and this amazing view of Monaco and the sea on the other side.

Next to the old town of Monaco Ville is the Place du Palais. This area is well worth visiting for several reasons. First of all, the view of the harbor area and the rest of Monaco is spectacular from this vantage point. Be sure to look on both sides because there are great views to be had in either direction.

While here, we chose to do the walking tour of the Palace itself. It's not very often that you get to go inside an active palace where the royals still live, so it's worth doing if you're here. Since the Prince lives here, the tour is understandably limited to only a portion of the magnificent palace (and security is quite strict of course), but it's still very interesting and fun to do. You will be given an electronic listening aid for the self guided tour and you can go at your own pace along the tour route. Pictures and recordings of any kind are forbidden inside the palace area. I'm not a big royals fan, but it was worth the time to wander through the palace area.
