We stayed at hotel Piolets Jan 09, The hotel is right next to the gondola, central to all you need in a ski holiday. We are very well travelled, and most definately say that the breakfasts are fit for a king. Evening meals the food is plentiful with loads of choice.
The big down side is thats its 12euros to use the pool which is cold, the jaccuzi & steam rooms are good, however far too over priced. It would have cost us 24euros a day to use which would bump up the cost of good priced holiday. weather was fab, bright blue skies and lots of snow. the pistes are so well groomed. An overall great resort.

we stayed in the piolets in andorra in early march... a bit of a trek from the airport but well worth it.. we were both new to skiing and very excited and were.t dissapointed!!!..

the heavens opened and we had a great 'dump' of snow and the piolet was great although i did find the rooms really hot!!.. we booked half board which was perfect great breakfast with good choice for all taste buds the evening meal was also good with fresh food being cooked all the time ..also as a bonus during your evening meal you could pay 3 euros and you could drink as much wine, beer or soft drinks as you wanted ( only in resturant)..
i didnt use the pool but it looked good!!!.. also there was a balconey at the back of the hotel over looking the slopes great for a chill and beer after a hard day !!!.... loved it and would def head back ...

Stayed in the Himalaia last year and thought that was poor, it wasn't compared to this one.
Good points plenty of lifts, good views of slopes and close to gondola, thats all folks.
Bad points (I hope I have enough space):
Rooms in need of repair, the balcony door didn't lock and never could have, and generally worn out.
Reception staff were useless, one even tried to do us out of 1 of our 16 rooms. It really does beggar belief as 2 of our party couldn't go (although paid in full) they tried to swindle us out of a room.
Bar staff (ok the one bloke wasn't too bad) but the others were slow and even rude at times. The one didn't know the times of the happy hour. One of our party did ask the one bar person if it was happy hour, they replied yes, so he asked why were they not smiling then. The entertainment was dreadful.
Restaurant staff again one of the younger lads was ok, but the others were boring and useless.
Restaurant Food (save the best to last - Ha Ha) how anyone can turn basic food into poor food simply just by cooking it is completely beyond me. Chicken served frozen in the middle, pork under cooked, poultry undercooked, sausages undercooked. I lived on salad and chips, plus jelly and ice cream (so not all bad eh). Other tasty things such as bullet peas, mash potato you needed to eat with a spoon as it would slip through a fork. Oh nearly forgot the soup (different sort each night) when inquired as to what type the answer was always traditional.

I could go on but even I am bored now.

It is hotels like this that make me wonder why we don't stay away, especially when the general feed back is so poor. My excuse is that I was with a large party, however never again.

I stayed at the hotel piolets with family and friends for 7 days in January 2007.

The location was fantastic, close enough to the ski lifts to have that little extra lie in and also to get home again when your feet are aching in the evening! There were great views of the slopes from the rooms at the back of the hotel and from the bar terrace (which was lovely in the sun).

The rooms were fine, there was enough space for all our clothes and the bathroom was extremely clean - the bath and shower were both brilliant! There is a ski hire shop and lockers downstairs in the hotel which was really useful!

The food was also lovely! Breakfast consisted of hot and cold foods inclusing omlettes made to order. Dinner was also good, some nights were better than others but there was always something that everyone liked - if in doubt they always had pasta dishes, salad and sauce-free meat dishes. On some nights they even served lobster! The waiting staff were very attentive though during busy times it took slightly longer to get their attention. We never had to wait for a table even though there was 6 of us. The hotel bar was good value as it served extremely large measures of spirits! The cocktails were also nice, if not very strong, but were more expensive. It also served a range of light snacks such as biscuits and crisps.

There is an Italian restaurant downstairs if you didn't want to eat from the buffet (which we did!), another bar downstairs (which was more lively with members of the public entering from the street) and also another ski equipment shop. There were plenty of areas with chairs and sofas around the bar to relax, and there was a computer with internet (at a cost) though it was broken when we were there (as were the payphones!).

The lesuire facilities were nice, though the cost of 12 Euros meant you had to stay and get your moneys worth! On some days you get to use just the pool for free so make sure you ask, though we paid the extra on our last day and made the most of the outside jacuzzi and the steam room/sauna!

The staff were very friendly, though not all of them spoke much English. I actually left my purse in the hotel and had to contact them when I was home to get them to post it to me, which they did without a fuss!

All in all reccommended for the great location and facilities!

Just returned from Soldeu. have stayed here many times before and enjoyed the ouside jacuzzi and ocasionally the terrace bar in the evening sunshine.

The hotels facililities have previously been included in its 4* price
but this time they charge for everything despite the agents brochure!
($12 per visit to the spa downstairs) skis are 'obviusly' not allowed
in rooms but you must pay €5 for a £30 locker with a 50p lock.If you dare hire your skis from the agent or the Calbo hire shop this rockets to €50!! according to the rude and unhelpful ski shop staff who also told us they don't have any wax when I asked how much a wax and service was!

The hotel food was really quite good with plenty of choice so I guess
at least this has been addressed since other comments. Although
dining room staff are hard to catch and dishes and cutlery often run out periodically.

Thank goodness we had snow! Mountain staff did an excellent job of keeping the slopes open and groomed. Excellent ski school.

Found Hotel Piolets to be reasonably comfortable and it's redeeming feature was it was near the gondola and lift! Food was the worst I've ever sampled, cold, undercooked, dull.....

Fatty's Bistor and the Hotel Bruxelles can be highly recommended. Food excellent and plenty of it.

Plenty of lively nightlife within the village. Can recommend the paragliding.

The food is truly dreadful. It was served cold even when you got to the buffet as soon as it opened. Not only that, but raw food was served as the norm (raw meat, frozen vegetables just to name a few examples). It is a miracle more people do not get food poisoning there. The rest of the facilites were ok. Only go there if you are prepared to eat out every night elsewhere.
