Having read all previous reviews I was really concerned with what to expect. People have mentioned how long the transfer is, and it is long, but you stop halfway through and it goes very quickly (and this is someone who has done it with an 8 and 5 year old.
My first impression of the room was it was very clean and spacious. We had a seperate bedroom. bathroom and a sitting area with two extra beds, plus a balcony. As I had never been skiing before I was a little worried that it would be cold at night, but we had to turn our heating down.
The breakfast the hotel offered was typically continental: crossants, bread, cold meats, fruit and yogurts and coffee and juice. This suited us and set us up for the day. The evening meal however was hit and miss. Fish in sauce, lasange, chicken legs. It wasn't too appetising and the kids wouldn't even try some of it. I told the rep and she spoke to the hotel as unfortunately she had heard this several times before. The receptionist was lovely and actually approached us and said if we want an omelette or pasta dish made just say and they will do it for us.
The location of the hotel is excellant for the chairlift, its right outside and takes you right up to the slopes. It is a walk to the main town, but we enjoyed the walk which took about 15 minutes.

Have just returned from a weeks skiing trip and stayed in a family rooml on a half board basis. The price was very competitive and we went ahead with the booking despite reservations about the poor reviews. We travelled with Neilson.
I will start off with the positives - this hotel is ideally situated for the 4 person chair lift that takes you directly up to the nursery slopes and beyond. The rooms are basic but clean and spacious for 2 adults and 2 children. We were lucky enough to have a room facing onto the piste and ski lift area and although the slopes were pisted at night the noise did not bother us. The rooms have fridges and a TV. The hotel provided complementary lockers in the garage of the hotel for ski equipment which was very handy.
The rooms do not have a safe but you can hire one for €18 per week. Unfortunately the 'safe' is a cash box and will hold no more that your passport. This is useless if you have any electronic equipment etc you want secured.
The reception has no atmosphere and is not somewhere you would want to spend any time. When we arrived at the hotel it had not been cleaned and the floor and seats were dirty from the night before. This was an aspect of the hotel I found particularly annoying as it would have taken very little effort to make it more welcoming. The steps up to the front of the hotel are lethal with ice so extreme care needs to be taken on entering and exiting.
All of these things would have been bearable considering the cost of the holiday if it hadn't been for our horrendous experience in the restaurant. Breakfasts were typical cold continental choices of meat and cheese etc. but the same food did appear to be brought out over a number of days. On our first night we were served from a set evening menu. The chicken main course had not been cooked thoroughly and was bloody in the middle. We mentioned this to the waitress who took it away and returned with another that was worse. This was taken away again. The rest of the food was barely edible. We left the restaurant hungry that night and contacted our Neilson rep who was very understanding and arranged a meeting with the hotel and the Neilson area manager as this was the latest in a series of similar complaints involving the food in the hotel we were informed. The condition of it was a health issue in my opinion. Neilson ate at the hotel the next night to monitor the situation, the food was OK but luke warm. This was mentioned to the hotel staff again by the Neilson rep. We didn't eat at the hotel until Wednesday night, again the food was luke warm. We went elsewhere on Thursday and on Friday again the food was cold. When this was mentioned again to the restaurant staff they became very defensive and the chef came out and began shouting at us. This was witnessed by other customers. We contacted the Neilson rep and told them we wouldn't be eating at the hotel again. We were told to keep receipts from any restaurant we ate in. The same Desserts were served over several nights eg. Jelly being mashed up and served again on a second night. My conclusion is that the food at this hotel is not only very bad, it is dangerous!
Having had such a bad experience in the restaurant at this hotel I would not stay here again. Hotel is a long walk along a road to get to the village no buses after around 6 but some bars and restaurants will provide a taxi service if you eat/ drink at their premises.

Room Tip: Don't eat in this hotel.

Stayed 2 nights for a weekend ski getaway. The rates are so cheap, it is hard to fathom. If you want flash, pay more an stay elsewhere. But, for what you get: a large, clean room with comfy beds/bedding, clean bathroom and standard mod-cons... Crest is a great value.

12 euro dinner buffet is more than adequate and lots of healthy options (good salad and fish). Tasty meatballs!... don't bother with the tiramisu!

People who are complaining should really shut up.... or pay more!

The only downside: DON'T PAY FOR PARKING!... the lot out front is first come first serve, and not controlled; so the 12 euro per day parking fee is uncalled for!

Well after reading previous comments , we were rather nervous about this hotel ,
The transfer time with 2 children aged 2 &7, this took 3 1/2 hours ! . We would totally agree with the food ! which was Luke warm even when the food came out ! ,the pork chops were not cooked. The hotel lacked atmosphere and we were away from the local bars, which was down a a steep hill , not great in the dark !
The village it self was nice , with a friendly approach. Some great pubs - Irish bar , quad vas? The hotel was good for the chair lift to the slopes and the rooms were clean and spacious. We were glad that we were in a big group

Stayed here 07 - 11.01.2013 - with our 2 kids 11 and 13, rooms are basic but clean and warm, TV, fridge. The bar prices are really good, and the drinks at dinner were also good value. The food was normal Spanish buffet for breakfast and dinner, it was fine, enjoyed it every morning and eve, Service was really good also....YOU ARE NOT IN THE UK OR USA, and you also get what you pay for, you have to understand this.....! Ski to the bar door, up 6 steps from the hotel and you are at the lift up..happy days. We had a great time skiing and in the hotel, and will go again, left Andorra and drove up to Oz en in the Alps, http://www.chaletdesneiges.com/uk/index.php had a great time there also... hope this helps... Our party - 2 Adults and 3 children, arrived on 23/12/2012 after a 3 1/2 hour transfer from Lleida airport. I would seriously consider using an alternative airport as Lleida is renowned for closing due to fog during the ski season. It took 3 attempts to land on the inbound flight which was quite scarey, and the airport closed completely on the outbound which meant being re-routed to Barcelona so 5 hours on the coach and another 3 hours at Barcelona. Transfers were not good!

The room was basic, like a big studio room with 3 single beds in the 'living' area and 2 single beds in a partitioned area. Although clean, decor was shabby and tiles were cracked. Beds were made daily although you had to make it obvious you wanted clean towels by piling them outside the bathroom. Of the five beds, 4 were very hard (they seemed fairly new), and 1 was very soft (this looked like it had seen better days!).

The food - it was utterly disgusting and unacceptable by any standards! I wont bore you detailing everything but as an example on one day, a pork chop was stone cold, vegetables were stone cold, chips were under cooked and full of grease. After we complained they brought out another pork chop full of blood. It almost made my wife sick. Chips were on the menu everyday. I think most days consisted of chips, cold vegetables, one meat dish, and some poor excuse for fruit. Desserts were reused for days on end, sometimes being 'refreshed' by coating them in chocolate. We had the Neilson reps eat at the hotel and they agreed it was disgusting, but whether anything will be done is to be seen. Christmas Day dinner was an absolute joke. Some sort of beef concoction, cold carrots, and half a jacket potato. Breakfast fared no better. Cereal, bread & rolls and cold meat. No option of any hot food. There was a toaster that was lethal and I am amazed no-one suffered a serious injury on the odd occasion we actually was there. This hotel restaurant is not British friendly. The seperate bar sells better food. Hell, the airline supplied better food!!

So when staying at this hotel, either be prepared to eat very little and lose weight, or budget to spend around 15 euros a night per person for a proper meal in a nice bar / restaurant (includes a drink). The Quo bar does an amazing Full English all day breakfast, and it truly is amazing. The Argentinian Steakhouse is also very good. All food is cooked on an open BBQ and the steaks are fantastic. Again for our family of five we averaged 75 euros a night including a couple of drinks each.

The location, whist is superb for the chair lift, is rubbish for anything else. If you want a drink anywhere other than the hotel bar, then be prepared for a long walk home. We are all physically fit and enjoy walking, but after a good night on the town you are faced with a long walk uphill. Once halfway the path disappears and you are walking in the road. From experience this can be very dangerous. I personally had a serious accident on this road, tearing a muscle and breaking off a bit of pelvic bone after the tarmac had broken away and I nearly went into the rocky river rapid on the barrier side! So location is great during day and poor during the evening.

Service - before we, and several other families complained about the food, all the staff were very friendly. After we complained there was a noticeable change in all of their attitudes. Smiles disappeared, the 'Hola' greetings stopped and although we tried to be friendly, it was not returned. Especially the restaurant staff who could barely look us in the eye. During our whole stay, we were nice, polite, courteous but honest regarding the service and food.

So thats my honest review of the Crest Hotel.

Room Tip: Just read the honest review above and make an informed decision.

Stayed for a week with a friend and had an absolutely amazing holiday. Travelled with Neilson and flew to Lleida, transfer wasn't too bad; about 3 and a half hours.

The Hotel room was good and fairly spacious, we both kept all our kit in the room over night; snowboards included, although there is a ski room.
The layout may not be ideal for some as the rooms are relatively open plan in style (the bedroom was open) but that didn't bother us.
It was clean when we arrived and there were cleaners everyday to tidy up our mess.

Staff were welcoming but be aware that English, although spoken, is not necessarily a second language in Andorra so you have to be selective about who you talk to when you want to find out information. The receptionists were fluent enough and very helpful.

Breakfast was adequate with the usual continental bits available alongside cereal, although there was no hot food.
Dinner on the other hand was a slightly different affair. For the extra bit that we paid to go half board it wasn't a rip off but if I went again I would go B&B only.

As Andorra is tax free eating out was cheap and when we did the food was great.
Mexican at Cisco's (near the main gondola) was well priced and tasted great and the pizza at Pampa over the road was good value.
The main town has loads of other places to eat and drink and the night life was great. If you're out there to party then, from our experience, the Monday night pub crawl is not something to shy away from.

Beer and other alcoholic drinks were cheap, the biggest costs seem to be for products like branded soft drinks, especially on the mountain.

Having the lift right next to the hotel was brilliant. We never queued but it did seem to be a little temperamental; spent around 5 minutes stuck on it a few times. However as it was coming to the end of the season I would imagine it was due for a service.

The hotel is at the far end of the resort, at the top of a hill, so be aware if you have young children it might not be ideal; it's about a 10-15 minute walk down at a reasonable pace. If we went into town before the lifts closed we would just get the gondola up the mountain and then the 6 man lift back down.

Finally and I cannot stress this enough, you're rep will say this too, make sure you get over to Arcalis.
There is a wealth of slopes available for those who get bored on the relatively easy slopes of Arinsal/Pal. There is a lot of variety over there and a park for the more adventurous.
The free buses run twice in the mornings from the car park outside the hotel and are the first stop. Generally by the second stop it was completely full.
Trying to get back from Arcalis is interesting, there are 3 few buses in the afternoons but it is chaotic at best and you have to be determined to get on. Be prepared to miss a bus as it left early, get on an extra bus that's being put on or not get on at all and have to get the local buses back.
That said, we had no problems getting onto a free bus back but met a few people who did. Although a group did get taxis over at around €40.

If you're looking for a comfortable place to sleep on a budget then this hotel would be ideal. I would have given a 4 overall and a 5 for value but the evening meals were a little too disappointing, the same goes for location as it will not be suitable for all due to the walk down into town.
