“Skiing Holiday April 2013”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

Just returned from an excellent holiday in Arinsal, the snow was superb, skiing deep powder in April was fabulous, we stayed half board in the Hotel Comapedrosa ,which was very good value and was clean , friendly and perfectly situated two minutes from the Gondola, the food was ok, with the odd evening meal out a good idea. As a French Alps fan, I was skeptical about Andorra , but my fears were unfounded, Arinsal isn't a big resort, with huge runs and a casino, but has many positives which make it ideal for families, beginners and mixed ability groups who will appreciate the convenience and atmosphere of a smaller ski centre. The reps and instructors were all excellent, and could not have been more helpful, friendly and experienced. There are plenty of alternative and affordable apres ski choices,so you can ski and then enjoy the apres ski without melting your credit card ,the atmosphere is very friendly and unpretentious. The Food served on the slopes and in the bars and restaurants was very good quality and great value. The number of long term and returning visitors to Arinsal, including the instructors who have spent ten or twenty years in Arinsal is a real testament to the town. Downsides? If you want to eat up the miles then it may not be the place for you, longish transfers three hours plus and Arinsal can look a bit grey in the wet and cloudy days.

Room Tip: Higher up rooms should be quieter, the stream at the back of the hotel can be very noisy but you get...

Had two rooms for me and the kids - no hot water on two nights, showers lethal - impossible to stand up in without getting water over the floor, food plentiful but stone cold (we had ONE hot meal in a week - the last night). Lighting in room woeful - impossible to read by. Only one electicity socket for charging phones, ipods etc, phone didnt work and neither did hairdryer. Reception rarely manned (only saw someone there on our arrival and departure) Neilsen / Thomas Cook rate as 3* but no way more than 1*. I have stayed in hotels in nearly 40 countries and this was by far the worst.
Only redeeming feature is location - right next to the gondola - no walking for miles with all the skiing kit (a major factor when you have 4 kids!)

Room Tip: To choose a good room - choose a different hotel!

Just returned from Neilsen late deal 19 - 26 feb 2012. The hotel is well situated in the centre of the resort only a couple of minutes walk from the gondola. Meals were plentiful but but lacked imagination, the soup was good but although it changed colour each day, by and large tasted the same.
We were allocated a room in the attic which was reached by stairs from the second floor. The roof slopes significantly and i lost count of the number of times I hit my head on the rafters. There was one very small window without a curtain which was annoying when trying to sleep, the room was fitted with two small wall lights which made reading an impossibilty during the evening/night.
The bathroom contained a very small bath and a shower overhead. unless you are less than about four feet tall you will find it impossible to use in a standing position because of the lack of height to the roof. There was no plug in the sink and the hair dryer did not work.
The maids did a good job of cleaning the room/ making up beds etc on a daily basis but did not do so before 1530 -1600.
The majority of the staff appeared to be English and all staff seemed to speak english to a good standard, They were pleasant and aimiable.
The hotel is generaly good value for money but stay out of the attic.

Room Tip: Steer clear of attic rooms

We booked this as a late deal through Neilson on a half board basis and stayed from the 29th Jan-5th Feb. And i have to say for the price it was great and it is an excellent location 30 seconds walk to the gondala. It is very close to all the main restaraunts and bars. Rooms are basic and a bit tatty in places, but everything was clean with maid service daily. The food is good, Breakfast freshly baked croissants with fruit, cereal, yoghurt, meats, cheese and toast. Evenings Soup/salad buffet, then a choice of 3 mains normally Fish, meat or vegetarian, follwed by dessert buffet. The hotel bar is also good with friendly staff and good prices. I would stay here again if i got it at the right price!!

Room Tip: If you are tall ask for a room on the first floor, ours was in the roof on the 2nd floor and would h...

We arrived having paid very little for our accommodation and were on a half board basis.

Everything at the hotel was brilliant, especially the bar staff and the reps who were very accommodating, even when there was no skiing available to us.

Our only slit niggle was that we didn't know how to work the ski lockers next door, but that was probably just us being slack.

Based on 2 sharing one twin room (which, again, was very nice)

This hotel was great value and perfectly located in the middle of the resort! Main ski lift only two minutes walk and all bars/restaurants were close at hand. Rooms were very clean and warm, breakfast was basic, but what I'd expect for the price. If I returned to Arinsal I would stay here again!
