Time was running short, and we wanted dinner before continuing our drive. This place was right near the parking lot, and open (a lot of places were closed, they have a midday break here). The food was better than expected, and not overly expensive.

Nice little open air restaurant. Food was excellent, service was slow - yes, I know service is slower on the continent! I would recommend the iberian ham on toast.

We had a lovely lunch in the old town of Andorra. We both had the roast chicken which was very nice and sat inside in the restaurant which had a nice atmosphere..

The sun disappeared; the temperature dropped significantly; and snow began to fall. Such was our introduction to Andorra la Vella at 12:30 p.m. on a Saturday in March. We headed to the closest restaurant -- Dos Cacadors -- for shelter and an early lunch. Inside, we descended from the bar area to a small dining room that offered coziness, warmth and friendly staff. In seconds, we had been seated with menus at one of the small, wooden tables. Only two other guests sat in the area, both drinking coffee alone.

The menu had many offerings, and I opted for grilled salmon. My husband chose roast chicken. The salmon proved to be fresh, tasty and perfectly prepared, and the chicken was delicious and quite tender. Vegetables were nicely done. Staff provided sterling service, which is what we usually, but not always, experience in Europe.

They certainly knew their clientele. Around 12:50 p.m., staff began to put white tablecloths and napkins on the tables, along with place settings. By 1:05 p.m., the restaurant was full. Customers spoke quietly and seemed to be enjoying their meals.

We walked out refreshed into a day that had become clear again. Dos Cacadors had provided a refuge from the short-lived storm and proved to be the best place that we ate during our short stay in Andorra la Vella.

Thank Rumples
