Arrived at The Marion 29th June 2011, wondering what I had let ourselves in for, what a surprise we got! We were offered cool drinks on our arrival, but TBH I was only looking to check in, and dump our bags. The reception manager also gave us plenty of leaflets with maps full of information for Polis and the surrounding area.
OK, so the rooms are pretty basic (it is a 2 star hotel, and doesn't profess to be any more), the reception manager asked if we wanted a double or twin, we took the double. The rooms are large and have a bath and shower, though how we were meant to fill the bath was a bit of a quandary, as there was no plug. LOL Whilst we were there, they put in what I can only describe as a digi receiver to the back of the TV, but be aware you only get Greek language programmes (no CNN etc.), tho' they can be accessed from the bar.
We stayed on a B&B basis, you could 'upgrade' to HB for around 10 Euros a night. The breakfast was what we did expect, ham/cheese/bread/boiled eggs/juice and coffee. Which was sufficient for us.
There is a bar with free wi-fi and there are PC's available for a small charge (2.5 Euro/hour). You can also order food there too.
They have a large garden/pool area at the back of the hotel, which is cleaned regularly. We were told that The Marion has the largest pool in Polis. Maybe it has, we weren't caring as we had virtually sole use of it. There were around a dozen or so sun beds with plenty of brolly's for them. They also have a covered/shaded area next to the pool. Tennis anyone? They have one of those too, though who could've played in that heat, I don't know! As it was only us using the pool area, we asked if we could plug in our MP3 player and speakers, and were advised to not have it loud, as it is residential at the back of the hotel.
The hotel was pretty quiet with only a few people staying there, with most people staying only a couple of nights at most.
The Marion is great value and I would recommend it for staying in Polis we are looking forward to staying there again, sometime in the future.
It is currently being decorated/upgraded, but don't let that out you off.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool/sea view

Ok, it was 6pm and we were in need of a bed for the night so the Marion did the trick but to be honest we couldn't wait to get out! it was a case of quick sleep and go!

Positive:

Bedding was clean
Good cup of nescafe for breakfast

Negative

Mould inthe bathroom
Concrete wall with glass louvre slats in the bathroom looking across to next door bathroom the same
bedding smelt like v cheap washing powder and my friend said her pillow 'smelt of wee's'
Air conditioning didn't work so slept with the patio door open all night
Noisy road nearby
Expensive for the standard but like the guy said he has to pay for electricity etc
Basic breakfast which I decided not to touch...how long had that cheese and ham been out in the open?

The Marion does not do what it says it does in their hotel write up but if you are stuck for the night it is possible to grin and bare it and I am still alive to tell the tale!
